Comment:

Dr. Risso is a good teacher, really knows her material & clearly cares about it. She's kind & there for you if you need help. At times lectures are dense, but so is Mid Ea History. Fair amount of reading - you'll need it for papers / tests. I found essays & papers easy, but I write well. Usu 6 quizzes & lowest 3 grades dropped; 2 tests and 1 paper.

Comment:

The lectures are important for tests, and the paper. You must attend and take notes to do well. There is a lot of reading assigned, some of it is dull, and she gives easy reading quizzes every two or three weeks to help you keep up. Some material can be successfully skimmed. Class was interesting and her requirements were clear.

Really helpful, approachable, and kind. I don't agree with all of her teaching methods, but that doesn't take away from her extensive knowledge and positive attitude for history that is more than contagious :) I really admire her and would love to take another class with her again!

I love Professor Risso! She is so nice and helpful. She really does care about her students and wants them to do well. I have a greater respect for Islam after taking her class and actually want to learn about it more. All in all; she is brilliant!

Outstanding professor. Lots of reading. Essay portions of tests challenging. Risso knows her stuff and makes the course interesting and challenging. One of the best professors at UNM.

Patricia Risso is a good teacher. The class is entirely passable. Her lectures are sometimes a bit dry. She truely cares about her students and is a fair person to deal with. I would recommend her 100%.

By far my favorite professor at UNM. She cares about her students, and she will work with you on anything. Her class is really easy if you attend class and study for the test. If you don't go to class, you will fail though. She has a great sense of humor and is willing to laugh at herself.

Her class was so easy if you went to class and studied a little bit for the exams then you'll get an A. The responses were pretty stupid but it would be impossible to do poorly on them. An easy A class.

If you really want to learn the truth about the middle east then i suggest not taking this class. She admits that it is taught from a western point of view which on many topics may conflict with what middle easterns or muslims believe. why does she choose to teach this class from what she thinks instead of what really happened in the middle east?
