I took Dr. Armstrong way back in 1985 and 1986. I was also on his scholars bowl team back in the mid-80s. He was a very knowledgeable instructor who was obviously very dedicated to his discipline and also had a very dry and sarcastic sense of humor. I enjoyed his class because I have a very similar sense of humor. Yes, he was tough but fair.

One of the most challenging classes I have taken. I loved his lectures. To pass with a good grade you have to put in the work and take good notes. You can tell his is passionate about his job which is infectious.

Great class. I'm not a big history buff, but he has so much knowledge it made it so interesting. You definitely have to work hard to pass. But hey, isn't that why you are in college anyway?

When I took Dr. Armstrong's HY 101-102 series, I was a spoiled student fresh out of high school who'd never been challenged to excel beyond average; therefore, I had a tough time with his high expectations. Looking back, I couldn't be more thankful for having had a professor who actually helped me become a better student.

This has been my first year at Jeff state (shelby) and I have not had a professor that can quite compare to Armstrong in terms of sheer awfulnessincompetence. Not only does he ignore your questions he will openly ridicule or belittle you throughout his lectures. There is no syllabus. No review. Nothing. The book is more helpfulinteresting.

Terrible. You may be OK if you write the lecture word for word. My advice is find a different instructor. His test are seriously what I dreaded most about his class. Essay and short answers where you had to write the questions and answers in complete sentences.

I graded him on the 100 class and he is very different this semester. He has been very disrupting by making us organize his room and making students chase a bug in the middle of a test. We were assigned the last 11 chapters for the final as we only covered 2 in class. He tests on the lectures. Had I known he would be this way I would not have taken

My class started with 12 people and for the final there were only 3 of us. I got an A+. Take very good notes on everything he says and take the time to find some good maps to look at. He is very aloof, but I like him enough that I'm taking his 102 class this semester. Just memorize things esp. if he says write this down. Just work and you'll pass.

Don't take this class! Worst teacher that can't explain information for anything. I took the mini mester and he doesn't tell you a single thing that will be on the exam.

Dr. Armstrong is awesome. He is what you get when you go to a four-year institute. If you are lazy or don't care to learn anything, you can expect an abysmal grade. Take my advice: write down everything he says. Print off some outline maps. Study a little bit every day, and you will be golden (and way smarter than you were before).

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! HE IS INSANE AND LECTURES FOR DAYS ON RANDOM TOPICS. He has no structure and thinks he controls even when you get to use the restroom. Do not miss a class or he will dock your grade. The test are the hardest test Ive ever taken and are based of things he thinks he lectured on, but didn't.

Not trying to be mean, but Armstrong is boring, he is inconsistent with his lectures, and all over the place. By the time he answers your questions, 30 minutes later, you'll forget what you asked because he takes you all around the world literally just to answer it. Overall, he was just a mess. I dropped!

Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had in my life. He jumps all over the place during his lectures, says jot this down 50 times per class, usually during the least important parts of the lecture, and I have wanted to kill myself pretty much every second I have been in his class. He is the very reason I use rate my professor now.

Took several courses with Dr. Armstrong. Yes, he is hard. Learned more from him (that I retained) than any other History prof. I've had before. If you study the book on your own, take excellent notes, and participate in class you will do well. Also, respond to his "rhetorical" questions since they are not usually rhetorical and will add points.

A lot of people don't like Mr. Armstong, but I really liked him and will be taking him again this coming semester. He is a pretty cool guy. The tests are made up of the notes you take. They are hard tests but if you attend class, take notes, and study a lot then you will pass. I didn't do too well on his tests but I passed with a B.

I took the week long summer mini-mester and literally memorized every bit of my 60 pages of lecture notes, but i made an A! We only had 1 test on the very last day that was 6 essay questions and 20 map questions and that was our only grade. The rest of the week was straight 8 - 4:30 listening to him lecture with just an hour break for lunch.
