Patrick has a very fun and witty personality! I enjoyed listening to his lectures as he is very passionate and knowledgeable in this subject. Though, he is a hard grader. Exams are 60% of your grade and homework is 40% of you grade therefore do not take this class if you want an easy class to slack off in.

Patrick is just amazing. I took this class while I was doing study abroad in New Zealand with his ANTH&100 class. I took this class in place of 100 because I had taken it previously. He is so passionate about anthropology and the Pacific, that it inspires you. He makes you want to become an anthropologist.

Patrick is my favorite teacher at SPSCC! He is definitely a tough grader, but will work with you if you need help. I was sick and missed almost all of the lectures on primates. He helped me find a note taker and was still able to pass the test with a 76%.

I took this class and honestly it was probably the worst online classes I have taken. He is a very tough grader and there is a lot of work to do each week.

Patrick is my favorite professor, I've taken two anthropology classes with him and I've enjoyed both!! Definitely do your best on the homework assignments, the grades are weighted 50% homework, 50% tests. If you stay on top of your work you'll do just fine. I must say though, his online class is slightly tougher than the hybrid/everyday classes :)

Comment:
Awful class. The first quiz was near impossible to pass, so difficult that he offered a retake of a max score of 30/50 points. While this was nice, most of the quizzes later on averaged around 27/50 which shows that the tests are either too hard or there is too much content in each one. Definitely wouldn't recommend if you want to keep a good GPA.

Definitely my favorite professor at this college. He will tell you how it is, he gives great lectures that are especially interesting, and as long as you're paying attention to the material, you will pass. Do the assignments! He is super inspiring . The tests are all multiple choice, at least for Anth205 and the reading is pretty light.

Enjoyed the class very much. He is a tough grader but you'll learn lots if you read his feedback and do the work. Never miss assignment dates, that's what hurt my grade the most but he's very clear upfront that you should pay attention to due dates. Passionate about the subjects he teaches, lots of reading & analyzing but that's to be expected.

Very tough grader and gives hard tests. Do not take this class if you just need a science credit unless you are very interested in the subject. Gives tons of lectures about how people originated from apes, and the science behind transgender individuals. Makes you write very detailed essay questions regarding these subjects for the tests.

When taking his class I learned a lot how to study better and prepare better for tests. Although the tests are very challenging I now am more confident in taking classes that are difficult to me as a college student. I am happy to say that he is one of the professors at SPSCC that helped me to realize that I must work for something to excel.

The material is very complex and taking the class online didn't help. However Dr. Chapman was very open to questions and reached out to help his students. There were no major test only quizzes and discussion assignments. The video lectures were great. He does expect his students to write like college students, this isn't a high school class.

Really tough grader and the assignments seemed irrelevant. assignments are worth 4 points so even if you get a 3 out of 4 that's only a 75 percent. Most quiz questions are on lectures but his lectures are long and boring. at the end of the quarter if you have a C- it is up to his decision to decide if he is to pass you or not. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS

Chapman is an absolutely hilarious and fun professor to be with. Very relatable and has many funny stories to tell. But at the same the class is pretty darn tough, grading is mainly based on 4 tests and a final, with a couple readings every week worth a few points. If youre willing to study ahead of time and not at the last minute this is a blast

Dr. Chapman is very clearly passionate about the field he teaches. His lectures are very straight to the point and describes what you'll be tested on. Every assignment works towards the following test so it doesn't feel like assignments are a waste of time. Offers 50% late credit and is a fair grader, gives feedback to encourage what he expects.
