He is the most condescending professor Ive ever had. Ask questions in activity not lecture. The Stem center barely helps and he only gives answers to study guides in office hours. He hardly lectures on his 5 minute ppts and a 5 min review in class so get ready to watch YouTube. When I reached out he helped me but talked down to me in the process.

He really cares about your success. He appears to be scary at first but if you show true passion and commitment and attend office hours you will understand he is not. You answer iclicker questions that are very useful and do pages from a workbook. I feel like I understand chemistry thanks to him. I would recommend him and I would take again.

Dr. Jasien is an excellent professor! Yes he was a tough professor. He has a "flipped class" format and some people don't like it, but I loved it! It made the class more interactive. Some complained about how he doesn't teach & they have to learn at home to understand the activities in class, but learning on your own's a big part of college.

Dr. Jasien was a great professor to have for my first science course in college its a flipped class so make to sure to not fall behind and go to his office hours if you are stuck he is happy to help and really wants to see his students succeed. But he makes you work for it so put in the time and you should be fine. Study the past exams!

Professor Jasien is one of the best professors I've ever had! Yes, he makes sarcastic jokes, yes, he's a tough grader and yes, you'll have to work hard to keep up, but he really does care about the success of his students and is very willing to help if you ask for it. Go to office hours. Even though it was a challenge, I enjoyed his class the most!

Jasien is by far my favorite professor at CSUSM! He truly cares about your understanding of the course. He has plenty of office hours and is always willing to help you. He might be a little rude in class but when you visit his office hours hes a nice guy. His study guides are JUST like the test. Take him!! Hes the best.

Paul Jasien is accessible outside of class and isnt so scary when you visit him in office hours. However, the quality of the class was poor. There was no formal lecture and he tells you this from the start. The concepts were very hard to understand based on his online videos. The exams were difficult w no partial credit. pop quizzes. No hw though

Things to note - all lectures are online, not done in class except for an overview, expects you to see them - Hw is done through Aleks, very easy points - He is sarcastic which may come off as rude to some people -attend all the activities for points and for additional help - you will be using the clicker which I found to be useful

THIS PROFESSOR MAKES THINGS HARDER THAN THEY SHOULD BE. There was no formal lecture just a bunch of useless clicker questions that arent even on the exams. You really have to teach yourself every little thing. YouTube will be your best friend. Hes only nice in office hours dont get me wrong, he can be of some help. I wouldnt recommend him at al

Get ready to be frustrated throughout his whole class, I know chemistry is not an easy A class but this professor makes it harder than its supposed to be, I pretty much learned most of the stuff through YouTube. Jason can be a jerk and laugh at you for not knowing the answer. Make sure you do the worksheet pages and study the practice quizzes.

Took him for Chem150 as well and he sets you up nicely for this class. One this he does different from many other 160 profs is that he doesn't require you to know calculus or use calculus to solve the problems. Show up to class and always do the assigned worksheets. They are easy points that will help your final grade, and tests are based upon them

DO NOT TAKE PAUL JASIEN. If you have NEVER taken a chemistry class in your life, or don't understand chemistry at all, do NOT take him. He was very arrogant, if you asked questions in class he would make you feel stupid for not understanding. There will be quizzes every friday, no lecture in class, his lectures are online, BORING and UNHELPFUL.

Professor Jasien is brilliant. Visit him during office hours if you need help. He's very kind & will take the time to teach if you're struggling. Quizzes every Friday, & clicker questions during class. No homework, just watch his presentations & take notes. Do the worksheets assigned in the Activity section, it's what will be quizzed on.

This teacher was alright. Anytime you would ask a question he made you feel dumb. His teaching method wasn't effective, I think. In class clicker questions barely helped. If the majority of the class got a question wrong he would make us talk about it. He would never actually teach us so we fully understood it. He is smart guy though. But goodluck!

He is a cool professor when he's not being rude or mean. He expects students to know the material and be prepared for each class. Reason why he gets upset when people don't understand. My advice, Do every worksheet and watch and LISTEN to every lecture. There are some things he says during the lecture that are not written on the power point.

Jasien is one of the best professors I've had. Even if you're not the best, he just wants to see you try. He can seem hard around the edges, but always helps when you have a question. Every week there are quizzes, but they're never pop quizzes & he always tells you whats on it. He does give homework, but it is not very heavy. Love to take him again

Class was awesome because he didn't lecture-- just question and answer teaching style. He grades hard on tests- no partial credit. The homework is really easy though and no need for the textbook. Also, a 65% is considered a C, 75% a B, etc. so that's nice. And there's a million people who can help you at the STEM center.
