Dr. Broad is funny & can make class entertaining, but essentially he isn't a great teacher. He knows his Spanish, but the way he teaches doesn't make me feel like I learn anything. He's not very helpful. He expects you to read the text & automatically understand it. I get A+'s on all his tests, but the oral exams are all opinion based & unfair.

Comment:

If I were to recommend a professor who teaches spanish, I would recommend Peter Broad. This man teaches you spanish in a fun, up beat, and well humoured way. I could have easily gotten an A in this class, but I had it MTWF at 8 am, and had a really hard time getting up. Other then that, he is a great professor.

Dr. Broad was my favorite prof. this semester. He is a great guy and his class is fun. There is homework every night, but it only took me 20 minutes at the most to do it. His tests are almost identical to the study guide he puts online. He's an easy A as long as you do what you're supposed to and go to class. I highly recommend him, great prof!

Incredibly helpful, great sense of humor, extremely intelligent, and flexible with assignments. If you have previous knowledge of the Spanish language, you're golden. A very good choice for an early morning class, as well.

Hardest class I have ever taken, but that is because I am terrible at languages. He teaches using exercises and you are graded on oral, written work, and grammer. I was terrible at speaking, or coming up with things to say, but I ended up with a B in the class. Very nice guy. It may be hard for students like me who hate active learning.

GOOD PROF, MAKES TEST EASY BECAUSE THE REVIEW GOES OVER EVER SECTION AND EXAMPLES OF THE QUESTIONS IN EACH *SOMETIMES SAME ONES ON TEST....ONE ON ONE INTERVIEW IS A LITTLE DIFFICULT FOR ORAL FINAL, BUT EACH ORAL EXAM IS IN GROUPS AND VERY EASY JUST KEEP REPEATING A PARAGRAPH THAT COINCIDES WITH OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUP, DO THE HOMEWORK HE CHECKS

it has almost been twenty years since i have taken Dr. Broad. he reminds you of Gallagher,but he is a very easy and i found him to be a funny and interesting instructor

He really makes sure you learn the Spanish with consistent (and really not too time consuming) homework and by making everyone talk in class. It is an ideal class for students who are shy about learning new languages or haven't had much opportunity to speak. The grammar tests are not hard but speaking is worth more.

He breaks the class up into groups and has us teach the material. We are expected to learn the material required for exams through a 20 minute powerpoint presentation taught in bad Spanish. And he lets you know your Spanish sucks, too.

Truthfully...Dr B is one of the best profs Ive ever had. Took Spanish in high school? You will pass with flying colors! So easy Im going to take him for Span 102 as well. Always manages to make the class get involved/have fun. Take him if you are sick of spanish. He will get ya back in the groove!

I majored in Spanish/Int. Studies 10 years ago and had Dr. Broad for multiple classes and he was my advisor. Great teacher who really knows the language. He also helped a great deal when I was deciding my major. It's good to see he's still around.
