Well respected, interesting man who has lived through what he's teaching. It's lecture heavy & if you don't read the books, you're going to fail. You're graded by 3 things; participation midterm, and final. The 2 tests are an essay like question that you have the class time to answer. You need effort for this class, it's not easy but not impossible

He opened up my mind and left me inspired after every class. He will pick on you randomly and ask questions about the readings. He will also let you ask questions. Make sure you read the books or there is no point in taking the class. You will fail and he wont allow you to be in the class if you dont. The books can get boring but you really learn

Very well-educated and honest man. He expects you to apply yourself with an in-depth analysis of your ideas. If you don't know how to write, he will withdraw you. He works your brain unlike many professors nowadays. I respect him a lot but don't take his class if you don't take your education seriously. You will get smarter after his class.

Dr. Schwabs class is heavily participation based. There are only two exams and they're essay questions but he prepares you fro them. There is a lot if reading in this class but the discussion are always fun ans Dr. Schwabs passion on the topics in great. Don't come late, he won't let you in and if you miss three classes he talks to you.

Took course to fulfill a requirement. Most difficult college course I have taken. Read over a dozen books for the course. Well worth the effort, a lot to be learned for those who pay attention. Do not miss class, use phone, or be unprepared, he will kick you out for that class. Difficult but fair, incredible professor but stern and humorless.

Very difficult, lots of reading and you must get to class or he will kick you out. However I have never learned so much or had such good discussions. Peter is absolutely brilliant as long as you put in the work you will pass, this is not for slackers. I loved it!

Tough but very good. Helpful when Only draw back is that he only had two exams, no chance to pick up your grade with papers or other projects which I really enjoy. But overall I really respect him for his teaching ability and knowledge.

Dr. Schwarb is a great teacher because he really wants you to succeed and he respects you enough to believe you can achieve if you work. He is pretty rough on students who don't participate and do the readings. Only problem just two exams and no other way to earn grades, but he puts a lot of weight on participation.

Schwab is one of the best professors I've ever had. His knowledge pertaining to his field is hella expansive and his interest is evident. He really wants his students to succeed, but does not give any handouts. If you want a class that makes you think and a professor who actually makes you feel intelligent, do not pass up a Schwab class!!!

Incredibly knowledgable. Biased, but doesn't grade on opinion as long as you defend yours well. Very intimidating in class, and friendly and helpful outside of it. Rigorously structures courses with motifs. Learn them and you'll do fine. You'll learn a lot from him.

Dr Schwab makes a valiant effort to keep his lectures impartial. Inevitably he will fail. Although he and I disagreed on about every pertinent point and issue, he gave me an A+ on both my midterm and final. A tough minded and fair man, he's a great professor, but do not forget your hw, and do not come in late. Seriously. (class: "Middle East")

Have taken 2 courses with him, he's a great teacher. Can be difficult, but do the reading and talk a lot in class and you're fine. He likes to hear all opinions and promotes different views on subjects. One thing: If you're writings skills aren't too good, don't take his class, he's big on writing skills. He reminded me why I love Political Science

Obvious psychological issues, should NOT be teaching. Sycophancy a pre-req for passing class. I disagreed w/ him and after class was ordered not to return w/ a big, fat smile on his face. Why is he teaching at Purchase and not nearby NYU or Columbia if he is so damn smart? Purchase is a Performing Arts school w/ a crap Humanities dept. Terrible...

Hardest class I ever took but the payoff was great. I fell asleep in class sometimes and couldn't finish all the reading but I guess I wrote ok on the tests. dont try to say what you think he wants to hear. he likes it if speak your mind in class. He seemed very inspired but interested in the students perspective. I felt inspired and empowered.

seriously one of the most amazing teachers i've ever had. he's absolutly brilliant. pretty intimidating at first, but once you get past that, he's hella cool. there's a lot of reading for all his classes, and if you expect to pass (never mind get a good grade) you cannot slack off and not do it. deff. worth the effort.
