Burgess had knowledge about music, but could not explain a thing without the use of wikipedia and heavy slides that who knows if she even wrote herself. Not only did she seem to not care about her students, she didn't engage or make the class interesting. Quite frankly, her attitude was poor and no one in class felt as if she cared about them.

hahaha... you gotta be kidding! Really? I can't believe that this class isnt a 300 level. She expected us to have a good knowlege of music prior to class (remember 179 course) and didn't have class fridays because she didn't want to see us (which would be fine if she didnt give us 4 hours of homework to replace it). NO WAY!

Had her for music for teachers, she's not too bad but I wouldn't recommend her class. She's a tough grader, and picks favorites based on whether you have had music experience. She doesn't like you so much if you play sports. Tests are VERY easy. Classes are okay, kind of boring. I wouldn't advise her classes.

Okay, I had her for choir, and I hated it. However, I absolutely adore her as a HUM teacher. She engages the students with class discussion, her quizzes are short answer, which allows you some leeway concerning your answers, and she is very helpful. Also, if you participate and act interested, she is even more charitable when grading your quizzes.

She was a very unorganized teacher. everything that she taught was from notes that she had. all of her test or short answer because she believes multiple choice is too easy. she hates when people read spark notes for her class but it is the best way out of her class.

Just to correct whoever said that Dr. Burgess doesn't have a degree in what she teaches, she doesn't have to! Humanities is a course which each college views differently. Humanities is taught by everyone from English profs, to Theology profs, to Music profs!

I had her last semester and I thought the class was very difficult. She was never real clear on what to expect. Like all teachers she had her good days and her bad. Overall I thought she was a great lady, tough teacher, and a pretty nice person.
