Lectures are extremely dry and boring. Absolutely hated this class. Tests were near impossible, especially the MC section. Just do yourself a favor and take ANY other professor for this challenging class.

Very dry lectures, he's a super smart guy but class gets pretty boring. Do the online practice quizzes before the tests, a lot of the test questions are really similar

Comment:

Shukla knows a lot on his subject and is very nice, but is clearly biased towards academia. If you want a good grade, prepare a spreadsheet before tests with auto-fill formulas and answers for mc questions, otherwise you won't finish (questions the same as practice). Would like to learn more application and less memorization. Didn't learn much imho

Comment:

Class is very dry and not that necessary to go most of time. The lectures don't even really help you understand the material, especially the calculation problems. He doesn't go over them or explain how to do it well. Graded by rank in the class, but it's pretty easy to do well if you study and know the calculation problems. Not much time on tests!

Kind of a dry class, that is all lectures. Does not take attendance and you only have 3 tests online each worth 1/3 of your grade and small assignments that make up the rest including a group project. Sort of a tough grader with no feedback. Class is based on rank for your grade, but not too hard to do well.

I took an ops course for my undergrad and thought this was better. Pay attention during his lectures and take notes on everything. Literally everything. If he asks a question on a test he expects to have every facet of the answer covered. Memorize the lecture notes for a good grade. He's a great professor if you're willing to put in the time.

My least favorite professor that I have had at Chapman. His exams are based on his notes, not worth getting the book. His exam profiles are extremely broad and material not covered is on exams. He takes off points for assignments and doesn't tell you why, you never get any of your work back or feedback. All common sense material made complicated.

You hardly use the book but will need it for a few things. His 2 exams are entirely based on notes/not the book; they're kind of difficult but pretty fair. You only have 3 easy assignments, then one big group audit paper & presentation which isn't that bad since you have the whole semester to do it. Overall you learn a pretty good deal about OM.

Take notes during his lectures - they are easy to understand and interesting and will be a huge basis for the exams. He grades other things based on how you performed in comparison to other people in the class, so definitely put a lot of effort into the case study and audit.

Interesting class. Case study and Operations Audit Project took up a lot of time, but not too stressful. Tests are difficult but the second part of each test is open book open notes. Grades on a curve so you can get a C even thought you have an A points wise

Brilliance Personified...Shukla may not be the easiest professor, or even the most interesting to listen to at times. However, if you have the opportunity to take one of his classes, then do it, and ask as many questions as you can because he is one of the brightest people I have met in my life.

Class is easy but doesn't answer emails. hes a busy guy. class is centered on your consulting project and he does not tell you how hard his test are. our midterm was 2 days long. he curves and basically gives you final grade based on how well your group project goes.

EASY professor! Workload isn't too bad and concepts are easy enough. The exams cover a lot of material, so it's important to read the book. Attendance isn't really mandatory.. His powerpoints just copy the book, but have less information. After a while, I didn't bother going to class and still got an A.
