It has been awhile since I have taken classes with RS, but I can say that what I learned from his courses I still use to this day. Even as alumni his door is still always open; he *really* cares about teaching. He may be disorganized at times, but using critical thinking skills one can figure out how to do well not only in his classes but in life.

At first you think you've been transported into the Mad Hatter version of NATRS. But then, your eyes are opened to a way or learning and the world of NATRS that only Rob can show you. You'll work hard and learn more than you thought possible. Rob teaches more than the lessons - he teaches you how to learn for yourself!

Rob has a vast knowledge and experience in his fields, things do cross over, as they do in the real world. To make it in his classes you must understand how to think out of the box and know expectations are high. Challenge yourself to reach them. Persistance, and always asking questions until you get it. His door is always open.

Rob is an extremely knowledgeable guy about the natural resourse field and a nice guy. He has a problem with teaching the information at an understandable level to his students. He does ramble off alot about other subjects.

Comment:
I can agree with what the others have said, it is very difficult to know what he wants. The problem is that Rob teaches so many different Natrs classes that he gets them mixed up, sometimes he's lecturing you on information that belongs in a differrent class. Nobody knows more about NATRS than him, so if you talk to him you can usually fig it out

Rob is a great guy who can be hard to work with. However, if you talk to him one on one you can usually pull a tanking grade up to at least a 3.0. His grading style is strange, but you learn more than you realize in his classes

Rob is really "woodsy," gives lots of time to his students, but his classes can be unmanageable. He operates better in the field. He is not book saavy. He is good at the board. He's less a writer, great at math, good with GIS, and knows the woods.
