Comment:

Katz is an amazing professor when it comes to US history, hes very passionate and explains what happened simply yet accurately. The class gives out no homework besides optional extra credit, which theres a lot of provided in class already. My only issue with the class is that you receive a grade for attendance which can hurt you if you miss.

Comment:

Katz is a pretty great professor in my opinion. Hes very knowledgeable on US History, and has a very clear passion for it. He makes it very clear what will be covered in quizzes, and adjusts quizzes based off how far the class is. He also provides ample amounts of extra credit. Would highly recommend him to any student.

Honestly this class wasn't that bad. No hw. Open book quizzes. Just read the chapters & you'll do fine. The tests questions come from the quizzes and we take notes on videos in class for extra points on the test. Don't miss class tho because your last exam is based on attendance. Also he always curves tests so you get a higher score

Overall a great professor. He's very enthusiastic about every subject, and it's obvious that he enjoys teaching. There are PLENTY of extra credit opportunities given throughout the semester. Quizzes are easy, he allows students to use their notes and book. The exams are fair because he uses almost all of the questions from the quizzes.

If you study the answers from all quizzes, read the assigned pages, attend lectures (I missed 3) and actually pay attention this class will be a breeze. People who don't like his class most likely don't like it because he has a strong personality that can be difficult at times, but that's life isn't it! Ex. He singles out students.

Class is started right on time! Show up on time. Breaks are short, but u r let out early. Lecture was engaging, he stays on topic, very focused. There is method. Class is challenging, if u r not prepared, u will not succeed. PAY ATTENTION, READ YOU TEXT BOOK, and study u will be fine. You need to *know* the material not just recite memorized facts.

Despite what the majority say, I think Mr. Katz is an amazing teacher. He may seem tough at first, but in the end he wants to help those actively trying. He gives opportunity for extra credit and his grading scale is fair. I passed with a 110%. I haven't found a single professor more interesting to talk to personally at Macomb than Mr. Katz!

I wish I would have looked this guy up before I registered for this horrible class! All the negative comments are completely true! He does not start class on time...He starts 5-10 minutes EARLY every single day and takes attendance right away so people who are arriving ON TIME feel stupid! Super hard, rude and annoying! Nothing makes sense either!

I swear to you, If you take this class you will go insane. Personally singles you out and embarrasses you. I did everything in my being to try to pay attention, take notes, do excess work and I STILL did not get an A. He lectures forever. You will ask him a question and he'll say refer to this guide and YOU CANT FIND IT. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

"Clear enough?" No. It was never clear enough. Do NOT take this class you will regret it. I can't believe I sat through that much of it. History is interesting but the was he taught it, no way. And we watched those stupid films with that same british/greek professor and it was hard to not laugh at him.

All i have to say is ... OKAY, CLEAR ENOUGH .. and everyone that has had him would agree. His tests and quizes DO NOT go along with his lectures or his learning guides he doesnt give homework but he lectures for almost 2 hours and you get out maybe 10 mins early .. half the class is asleep VERY VERY BORING!

STAY AWAY!!! I absolutely LOVE history and he nearly ruined it for me. Over half the class dropped and we had no idea what he was talking about most of the time. When you ask for help after, he looks at you like your a complete idiot for not knowing everything he does.
