I didn't come to appreciate the depth and insight of Professor Petchesky until almost a full year since I took her Body Politics class. I had no idea that so much that we covered would still be lodged in my brain almost a full year later. She's a fabulous teacher-- you just might not realize it until it becomes apparent later on.

She is a very nice lady!No tests and no in-class final-just 4 essays!very interesting materials and helpful discussions!she tells u everything u need to know in order to write the essays!This class always made my day!Overall pretty easy and straight forward!

I don't understand why she has such bad ratings. She was great! If you take good notes in class you will not have to read much of the text books. So many kids in class fell asleep and were texting and she never said a word to them. Her lectures are a little messy, but if you take notes you'll be fine. Best part, she doesn't like giving tests!

If you can avoid, you'll be grateful you did. Her lectures are messy and all over the place. She's a huge feminist, so don't use masculine pronouns in papers because you will lose points.

The best thing about getting an A in this class was that it put me in an honest and objective position to criticize her. She is incredibly close-minded, and at least admits this jokingly, but that doesn't help you when you're being graded. All the grades are based on papers and essays that she can read into all she wants, in whatever way she wants.

Loved this teacher, the class, and the fellow students. It's definitely an experience. Ros chooses fascinating material and helps to broaden one's perspective. Yes, it's hard work and that's exactly what it should be at a 400-level course, but Ros is there to support you throughout the process and is always open to a discussion.

the class is interesting/well set up, you will learn a lot, but you can see that she'll get frustrated with people if they do not come to her understanding in a timely fashion. she's not going to hide her personal views or attitudes on things, which is not necessarily a bad thing. patronizing/condescending sometimes.

There is a TON of reading for this class. Petchesky is pretty disorganized wich drives me crazy but if you can handle that, and the constant tangents she isn't all bad. The key is to know what your getting into.

if anyone felt more "confuse" when they left Petchesky's class it was because they weren't reading, or weren't trying to connect the readings to real life. Ros is simply the best, most challenging teacher I've had at Hunter! I think Hunter students might struggle with her because she isn't yer run of the mill "here's a review sheet" ****.

Oh my God รข€" prepare to work. Extremely hard class with tons of work, and the truth is that at the end of each class I was more confuse than when I got in. I happen to be a Women Studies major, but still couldn't understand what's going on there.

One of the most intellectually engaging courses I've taken. Ros accomplishes the difficult task of showing the connections between abstract social theory and contemporary political issues. She prepares students to fight the revolution better than most.
