I failed because my schedule was bad, but if you are late you wont really pass at all. I do think she is a nice lady and I want to give her a 2nd chance when I take eng 102 in the spring.

Weird is an understatement. More like super uncomfortable. The class topic is crime. Convos are interesting but her input makes you not want to participate. She's disorganized with due dates and gives opinionated essay corrections that you have no choice but to revise. If you MUST take her class, keep your head down, do the work on time, and leave.

Very strange lady to say the least. Topics discussed in class were very interesting but I took it at 8am so fell asleep alot. And she would call me out for it... Lots of reading and occasional pop quizzes. Also, group project. Overall, she just wants to see you improve over the semester and gives lots of good feedback. Good professor!

i took her for 102, there were 5 total papers we wrote (with revisions) and a few homework. she is not that tough grader either, just talks about prison, crime and stuff. I wasn't interested a lot but easy A if you can write a decent enough paper.

When I first saw how all the other students Rated Sandra Howland I was scared to take this class. However once class started I was very confused. Professor Howland was very nice and was such an easy grader. As long as you did the work you had no problem. We were graded by a few essays and homework that she would give every once in a while.

If you enjoy talking about crime and punishment, take her class. However, I had no interest in that topic so I was stuck in a class that I hated. Sandra ONLY talks about crime in all her assignments. When you come to her for office hours, she is discouraging and unhelpful. I never had an English teacher where I haven't learned a single thing.

I very much enjoyed this class, because it was straight forward. The topic of this class is crime and punishment, so if you don't want to write about it, don't take it. Sandra let us be very open in our writing, and always tried to push us to the next level of thinking with her comments. I enjoyed her passion, and her straight forward teaching.

Hated this class with a passion. The lectures were long and boring, and the professor did not seem to care about you at all as a student. Instead of words of encouragement like most teachers would give students, I was always let down instead. This teacher does not use blackboard, so you can't even check your grade throughout the class! HORRIBLE!!!!

Very opinionated. Im tired of hearing her talk. I should've dropped her section and look for another. Very tough grader on essays and she gives feed back with cursive writing which I can't read at all. She is boring and it sounds like she doesnt care about you at all. She discourges you by saying stuff like "i dont think you care at all". Dont take

One sided, and very specific when it comes to what she wants in papers. Very hard class, boring BORING lectures. Lots of reading and writing assignments weekly. Struggled through the semester with her. Don't bother.

She is nice and a pretty easy grader, just very opinionated about politics and the prison system so thats basically all you talk about in class. But if you show up and give your opinions on things it is pretty easy to pass her class. No tests.

She's very opinionated. She drags out her lectures where it gets to a point it's annoying. Long readings and pointless videos in class. Wasted time. Essays are not clear neither are her revisions. Goes off topic a lot. Participation matters but you'll only be aware at the end of the semester. Very nice person but as a professor....

way way way too much work for an Engl 102 class. So many readingsvideos, long ones. need a response paper for every class. very boring. her lectures go off topic and she just keeps talking. no matter what your opinion is hers will be the opposite of yours. papers are open ended which results in low grades. Take a different teacher believe me!!!!

Although she only got 3 topics all semester -education, competition, creativity- she really expect her student to augment their essays to prepare for the WPE. The bad news is just I don't really know how she calculate my final grade and what she expect from our essay. her feedback were useful though. FYI the class much like a discussion with peers.

The class, english 101, was a topic I had liked prior to the class- Education. This teacher has compiled the works of many thoughtful people and ideas that intertwine quite well, meaning you can use what you learn all term. I did well on all my essays and I got an A despite having missed other assignments. teacher is interesting to listen to.

This woman is scatter-brained. Granted she is "nice" her lectures often veer off topic from the readings and she confuses herself easily. I do almost none of the reading or class work and am getting a B... But her class makes me want to jump out the window!

I loved the topics, I discuss them outside my school life, but this woman knows how to ruin it. She's not clear with what she wants from you and is so controversial in her topics it kills any little motivation you had to do the work in the first place. She will call you out and embarrass you, contradicts herself in what she preaches.

Yes, it's like a history/philosophy class, but it makes it VERY easy to form ideas to write papers on. She has a very good teaching strategy.
