Comment:
Dr. Miller can be a little condescending at times and that took a little while to get used to but as long as you show up to class and work hard, you should be okay. If you are willing to put in the work, because it is a tough class, it will only help you in the long run. He is so smart so if you have the chance to take a class with him, take it!!!

I took Calculus 3 with Dr. Miller back in the 1980's. He was the most difficult and frightening instructor that I ever had. He also taught me more math than all my other professors combined. My only regret is that I did not take more classes with him. Do not be afraid of tough teachers. You learn the most from them.

I took calc II with Dr. Miller and I regret my experience with him. He doesn't have the presonality to teach other students. I would avoid at all costs and get a different professor to teach the course you need.

He is the most condescending person I've ever met. There's a difference between being hard on a student and insulting them and I don't think he knows (or cares) that there IS a difference. Not everyone who takes a math course at Brockport is a math major - so the math professors should STOP EXPECTING us to be!!!

Excellent professor. He gives a lot of homework but it helps significantly on the tests. He often pulls questions EXACTLY from the homework for the exams. All homework is from the textbook. All the odd answers are in the back, and if you google the even questions you WILL find the answers online. He puts a lot of formal definitions on the exams.

He is very condescending and not helpful at all, if you ask a question he looks at you like you're an idiot and repeats the confusing statement you questioned. His tests are hard and generally have nothing to do with the endless H.W he assigns. Avoid this professor at all costs.

If you want an easy grade, choose another professor. If you want to really KNOW the subject, then take Dr. Miller's course and be prepared to do the work. Had I not had Dr. Miller as an undergraduate, I never would have survived grad school at a nationally ranked university.

Very difficult professor but brilliant. If you are lazy he will destroy you. He tries to encourage you but you have to put the effort in. His tests are very difficult.

Extremely difficult class for me, but he encouraged and helped me the entire time (once I got over how intimidating he was). This man put my ass in line freshman year, and I don't think I could be more grateful I took his class.

Dr. Miller is one of the hardest professors you will ever have and even he will admit it. But he is very smart and good at what he does. His tests are really hard but he grades them very fairly and you will leave his class knowing you learned a lot. I recommend taking his classes but you have to be ready to work.

This guy thinks he's a lot smarter than he actually is. To try and get this point across he attempts to talk over everyone's head. A truly wise man would know how to speak to his audience. He does not. He also spends far too much time diving too deeply into things that should be examined as rigorously in higher level courses.

I understood what we were doing in class the whole time, but then when it came to the homework it was super hard and the tests were impossible. Plus the tests were few and far between and had very few questions so it was hard to get a good grade. DO NOT take the class with him if you can help it at all! Oh but if you do make sure you dont work with someone on the take-home test, that's how i got a zero!! It's my own fault, but hey its just a warning.

He is a very complex teacher to listen to, he tends to talk to the board and when you ask for clarification, he tends to just restate what he said. But i do think that he is the smartest man i have ever known to do math.
