Comment:
Jarvis' class was okayy! His class was easy, just three papers. And he gives extra credit if you go to the writing center, so that helps! Class material and topic was interesting though! He really tries to get students to participate. Just didnt like how we spent the last few classes reading something we didn't need to write about!

Jarvis is a great professor, but grading is very paper-heavy. He gives re-writes, but you have to work very hard for a good grade. Interesting subject topic, but gets boring quickly.

Prof. Jarvis is definitely one of the best WSC teachers you can take. The class was pretty easy, and he makes the lecture interesting so your not bored sitting there. His grading is easy and he gives you an extra 5 points for the draft and an extra 5 points for the re write if you go to the writing center.

Jarvis is one of the best teachers I have had at Hofstra. His grading is really fair and he gives you extra credit for going to the writing center for both your first draft and final draft. His lectures are very interesting, and the subjects he chooses are very relevant. I would definitely recommend taking him for any writing or English class.

One of the best professors I've had at Hofstra. He forms the class in a way that is highly enjoyable. It is heavy in reading but he makes it interesting to read. He constantly cracks jokes and keeps the class alive. As long as you show up to class, participate in discussion, give your opinion. QUESTION WHAT HE SAYS, he enjoys that.

From my experience, writing composition courses bore students to tears. Professor Jarvis is so good at his job; he made each class exciting, interesting, and educational. I looked forward to getting up at 9am for his class, and always had a fun and enjoyable time. He is very knowledgeable in all areas of English, Grammar, Writing, and Psychology.

Just start participating so the class goes more smoothly. Asks questions that are difficult to answer (and always follows your answer with another question), but well worth it. He makes a Distribution requirement go by fast.

Absolute pleasure to be in this class. Read all of the literature out loud with the passion to teach, which kept the class captivated. No midterm, no final - Just writing papers that are actually interesting to write. Not at all a "snooze fest." -- If rac.ist comments were made, they have to do with analyzing the text being read at the time. 10/10

I showed up to his class and just sat there while he read the entire reading assignments out loud to the class. Re-wrote every essay, no midterm, basically one big snooze fest. He will take the time to work with you if you ask. Made race-ist comments and singled students out which was awkward and uncomfortable.

Best professor I've had yet by far... Class is interesting and discussion based, but not difficult. He picks apart everything you were supposed to do for hw during the next class so you don't really have to do the readings. He's a really good devil's advocate as well. Anddd the British accent is pretty entertaining.
