This class was an insane amount of work for an introductory level course. Students would have benefited more if there were online lectures instead of writing many lengthy papers over large and dry textbook chapters. Don't take this course if you already have a heavy course load. Unfortunately, this class turned me away from social work as a whole.

Dr. G is a great person but a terrible professor. None of his instructions for the essays are clear. Instructions can be found in 3 different locations. He requires a certain page length for his papers but expects you to be a massive amount of information into each essay. This is the most stressful class I have ever taken.

SW 250 is the easiest class I've ever taken. Ginther is very particular about the margins/headers on his papers (there's 3 every week) but that's about it. If you have the formatting correct you're guaranteed an A even if you have no idea what the paper is even about. All his quizzes have quizlets and are pretty easy. He's also really kind/caring.

LOTS of homework and papers due each week, mandatory attendance but you don't learn anything in class, everything is on your own. Hes very easy to work with if you have questions. You'll be incredibly overwhelmed in the begging of the class but it gets easier as you go.

Professor Ginther is my favorite professor here at MSUM by far. He is very flexible and understanding with assignments. It is a hybrid course which can be a bit confusing at times if you haven't done online classes before but he will help you understand. He truly wants all of his students to pass his class. Would retake this class if I could!

The days we did meet, I felt were more important as far as just staying connected and encouraging questions. Most of it was online. Lots of papers, but I never felt they were overly difficult. There's lots of discussion work to do. Read the chapters carefully and take good notes. The tests are hard, and you won't score well if you don't! He's good.

Dr. Ginther is an overall good professor. I can't say anything bad or anything great. He's got a soft voice and it's hard to hear him a lot of the time in class. This is a hybrid class (half online and half in class), but I don't feel like I take anything away from the lectures in class .Also be prepared to take the full amount of time on the tests

He's a great and helpful teacher. I really used the textbook a lot. With my class, he let us use textbooks, notes, and partners for tests so the tests were very easy. Taking notes helps a lot on the tests. Overall, I wish he wouldn't of brought in as many speakers so we could of learned more, but it was good.

Dr. G is an awesome professor. He truly cares for his students and always offers help. I've taken SW 400 and SW 460 with him. At first, his class is a little intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, you'll do just fine! Notes are huge in his classes! Take as many as you can as they will save you when it comes to your papers!

This class seem really hard at first but Dr. G is always willing to try and help you. He is willing to push deadlines, etc. if you need it. He is an easy grader, he just wants to see if you understand the material. He cares a lot about his students! If you slowly work on the papers and not wait until the night before, you will do fine!

About 99% of students will hate the class at first. Since technical writing is new to most students entering this class, you may easily become frustrated and want to quit. Just don't give up, stay positive, and talk to Ginther during his office hours if you don't understand something. He is more than willing to help students who are struggling.

Dr. G. really does care about all his students! I thought the worse of social policy, and came out of there with an "A". I truly deserved it; he made class very interesting. It helps that I didn;t miss a class! Thanks Dr G. for some very enlightening material!

A good and very knowledgable instructor, but when lectures he tends to loose the students. He teaches his undergraduate classes at the same level as graduate level (the books are the same) and assignments are similiar. I would take a different professor if there was a choice.

I had to take this class even though I'm not a soc work major. I hated it. He wants everything exactly right but doesn't tell you what exactly right is. Life isn't all about writing grants, some of us might actually want to do ACTUAL research someday.

It is sad that the other people on here don't like him because he doesn't fit into their narrow view of what social work is. I think he is amazing and one of the greatest resources we have. Social work is about more than helping individuals and small groups, people. Ginther helps us realize that.
