Comment:

Don't get me wrong, professor Allen is a sweet person. I had her for Women Studies 1, and ALL her tests are true/ false and very few actual a/b/c/d questions. There is 4 tests total, 2 reflection papers, and 4 papers and if you go to the writing center to have your paper revised, you get 5 points extra. I would fully recommend you taking her class

She's funny and intelligent. She's not a trump lover so IDK what that one comment is talking about. Definitely an easy A, it's all common sense.

Professor Allen is the sweetest, nicest professor I have ever met. She is so understanding and relatable. She makes writing fun and has improved my essays more than any English teacher could. Professor Allen makes sociology so fun and makes her lectures interesting and interactive. She has plenty of opportunities to raise your grade. She was great.

Prof. Allen is one of the best professors I have had here at El Camino!! Failing is not a option for Prof. Allen, and her students, she's just simply amazing, funny, and kind. Do not leave this school without taking one of her courses, you will not regret it. Also, she is always on top of things and very organized.

Comment:

Professor Allen is such a sweetheart, she truly cares about her students. Be aware you cannot miss more than twice, unless a valid reason. You do have to read the chapters so the textbook is needed however, she does provide chapter study guides which is very helpful. There's a lot of key terms to learn but SI sessions do help. She's funny and kind.

Prof Allen is like your mom's cool friend. She's easy to talk to in class, she knows how to keeps lectures engaging, and she is super supportive of student success. Go to SI sessions to keep up with reading and terminology and you'll do well. Clear and doable workload and all multiple choice quiz/exams. You really have to be slacking to do badly.

She is one of my favorite teachers. If you attend SI sessions, then you will definitely pass. You must buy the book and a blue book. She gives study guides that is super useful for tests. She gives the best examples and stories to help you memorize. She always takes the time to make sure we understand. Makes herself available before class. Amazing!

I took professor Allen for my first ever class at el Camino in the summer, she is so interesting and so are her lectures. I didn't read the book I just memorized all the vocab from the book and it helped!

Did not like her teaching style. Instead of confusing criteria, she should just tell people what they need to do to receive a good grade. Doing all the 'mandatory' work will not be all you have to do, and some of the 'extra' work is mandatory. Beware of a 'magic' equation at the end of the semester that will calculate your grade.

Professor Allen is an awesome instructor. She will give you study guide questions that will be on the test and notes are clear and concise. She posts the notes online in case you missed class. If you study the study guides, you will pass. No surprise questions or trick questions on exams, so they are very doable. Drops lowest scored quiz and test.

She doesnt lecture much about what is on the test, so the book will be your best friend. She plays so many videos, class was not what I expected, but I did learn a lot. Kinda got boring. Have 3 small essays that are pretty easy. 5 exams, lowest grade dropped. Lots of in class assignments, but they werent hard. Tons of extra credit.

Show up and turn her powerpoints into Quizlets, you'll get an A. 4 tests and quizzes, drops the lowest for each. 2 fairly simple essays and 3 VDQ's. Some EC. She's really nice. My only complaints are: 1.) She takes a really long time to grade things 2.) The test questions aren't always super clear. Just study! Book is avail. + free on b-ok(.)org!
