Comment:

I've only taken her for one 6 week summer online course & would not recommend her to anyone, well at least for summer. Time is precious as it is a summer class and she does not take that into consideration. No late work accepted, excessive amount of assignments due DAILY & all work is due at 7 am! Not enough time for other classes, work, or life.

Comment:

Graduating this May, I decided to take COMM 444 (Communicating Civility) with Dr. Sly Young. This is my 2nd time having her and she is an amazing Professor! She is very respected, gives good feedback, and encourages her students to do better. This class involves: being a peer-mentor, monthly meetings, easy online HW, & learning LEADERSHIP roles!

Comment:

Sly does not have a textbook for this class but does some group projects. 1.) interviewstream (video interview ) 2.) network interviews (30 minute networking, mandatory to pass) 3.) one midterm (beware, questions at tough), no final. You do have to work for your grade in this class but it is well worth the effort. Lots of great feedback.

Dr. SLY is an amazing professor. I learned so much just by taking her class and you can tell she genuinely cares about her students. Also, exams are all online and not hard at all as long as you study and go to class.

She's a good professor but lecture-wise I wasn't impressed; she's not as sharp or funny or original as people make her out to be. I've had plenty of teachers who've been excellent lecturers and they never had to rely so much on their powerpoints to teach the students effectively. I also hate how you lose points simply for not attending the activity

Very easy class. 3 exams. The last exam is the final. All of the answers of the exams were online. 1 group project which is very easy. I find the activity portion of the class pointless but it was fun. Lectures were great. She talks fast but you continue to pay attention. Easy A. The textbook is also online.

SLY was amazing! And this class was an easy A. The content of this course is interesting in itself, but SLY made each lecture fun and enjoyable(: The class is composed of 3 online tests (no cumulative final), weekly blogs, and one easy presentation. SLY is a must-take!

Her lectures may be long but they are fun! She really tries to interact with students and likes to show clips for her examples. She ends class a little early to give students a chance to talk to her. The class has three online tests that sometimes includes questions she only addressed in lecture. Overall, a great class to take.

Amazing professor! Lectures are so thorough and presented in a way to help you understand. Have to write 2 blogs per chapter every week (only graded on 6 the whole semester), 1 presentation in the lab section, 3 online tests (final is just another test, non-cumulative)- tests are on readings and lecture so take good notes! 100% reccommend

I enjoyed listening to her lectures and the 3 exams were super easy. There is one huge group project so don't procrastinate (although it's pretty easy too) I love Dr. Young! She's super interactive and seems to actually want her students to succeed. Book isn't actually needed, just for blog posts. I survived w/o MyCOMMLab.

There are only 3 exams per semester they're pretty easy as long as you go to lecture and take good notes. Going to the activity section also helps a lot.

You're required to write 2 blog posts per week which are about a paragraph long about the chapter you're currently on. It's pretty easy after you get the hang of it & there are 3 online exams including the final. Lectures are funny but you don't really need to go, but you have to go to the activity. I skipped alot but took the tests w/ my friends.

I find it strange that I'm rating a professor I had last semester lol. Really good class to take. Personality aside, there are 3 online exams (use textbook!). WATCH OUT for wording of questions on those tests. They're tricky. Activity session can be informative and helpful, depending on who you have. Overall, relatively easy class.

She's a good professor with lots of knowledge to share. I don't really like the class all that much but it is pretty easy and i rarely read the book unless im doing the weekly blogs. Overall fairly easy, good professor so yeah take her! btw Manny one of the activity instructors is a pretty cool guy!

Sly is soo good, one of the best professors out there. Lectures are entertaining, it's hard not pay attention. She is cute in the way she teaches the class and use realatable and modern examples for lecture. Super easy class. Must attend class if you don't want to read the book, but the book reading is easy. Must take course.

Comment:

I love Ms. Young! She makes her lectures interactive, fun, and bearable. She relates most of the COMM examples to her personal life-- which makes people actually wanting to attend her class. Take her class!! You won't regret it.
