Majority of the test questions are scenario based. You have to read everything and fully understand it! No extra credit! No help/advice from the professor (even if you ask). Class is passable, but also stressful.

Comment:

Dr. Owen is great! She's very willing to work with you if you don't understand something. She gives great lectures, but you still need to read the book! She gives out study guides. I took is as a night class, which although the time was less than ideal, she make the class enjoyable and I looked forward to going to the class. Great discussions!

Comment:

Dr. Owen is the best teacher I have had the pleasure of working with at Athens State. She does had out a lot of readings but I didn't always read them and I did pretty well. She gives out study guides that are pretty true to the test. If you miss a test, email her and tell her why you missed and she'll let you make it up! I'd 100% take her again!

Comment:

Dr. Owens may be the most influential Professor that I have ever had. I have attended numerous colleges and have over 200 credit hours. I am about to receive my MA in sociology. Dr. Owens is very intelligent, insightful, and classy! She made a huge impact on my career. Any college is lucky to have her as a Professor!

Dr. Owen is the best professor at Athens State., hands down. She is very thorough in her lectures and encourages feedback from students regardless of their opinion. Treats everyone equally and with respect. Tests are difficult, but she does give a great study guide. I would take all of my classes with her if I could!

Comment:

Dr. Owen is a wonderful professor, I had social psychology and child psychology with her and she makes you work hard for your grade. Her exams are not easy, if you want to pass her class with an A or B you must read the assigned chapters, go to lectures, and participate in class. She is flexible, fair, approachable, and a nice person.

Dr. Owen definitely expects 110% from all of her students. For this class we only had five grades so you had to be on your toes. Her tests are very detailed so extensive studying is a must, but she does provide excellent study guides and recorded lectures. Her project is no joke, DO NOT wait until the last minute to start. She was very helpful!

Dr. Owen is accomplished in involving her class in group discussions and is appreciative of participation and insight from her students regardless of their point of view. Her tests are very thorough, but fair. She has a great sense of humor. Did I mention she is smoking hot?

The class was easy, but you have to study for a long time. I suggest taking notes from her Tegrity videos and copying almost word for word what she say. I failed to od this for the first test and did not do well but on the last 2 did well on both. and also, do the study guides for every test. those are helpful too. study, study, study!

Took this class online. This teacher is very thorough with assignments and directions. She doesn't throw any curveballs as far as tests go. Gives a very helpful study guide for the tests! THE STUDY GUIDES ARE AWESOME! Grades test on a curve also, so the highest points possible depends on highest grade made on the test.

Had Dr. Owen for Child and Social Psy. She's extremely helpful but her tests are hard. It's not your typical test. She expects you to comprehend what the material is and her tests are all scenarios and examples.

Had Dr. Owen for Social Psych. Enjoyed her class very much. She doesn't tolerate much skrewing around in her class, which was fine with me. Very effective teacher who knows her stuff. Great sense of style, too. :)

Would take her class again. Tests come primarily from lectures - if you take notes and attend class you'll do fine. Love grading scale - if top score is 96, everyone is graded out of 96 instead of 100. You won't get out of class early though.

Comment:

Pretty good professor. I liked the way she graded tests (for example, if the highest grade is a 92, then your grade is out of 92 rather than 100, that is how she does the grading scale. Its pretty cool). There is a project for both classes though that is a huge pain! Otherwise the classes were okay. I would take this professor again.

She's brilliant. I had her in 1998, so it's been a while. I remember her because I had a lot of respect for her teaching ability and her knowledge of the subject material.
