She's incredible. Do yourself a favor and take a class with Tamsin. She's easily my favorite professor at Swarthmoreinteresting subject matter, lucid lecturer, and really kind to boot. She makes philosophy feel so relevant to everyday life.

Comment:
Tamsin is a very nice person and is passionate about philosophy. Unfortunately her classes are very boring, and does not really help one to understand the material. She also rarely digs deep in the material that is given in the class. Everything feels very surface. I feel like I did not learn much in her class.

It is impossible to get As in this class, and pretty hard to get below a B- (although possible). She is from a continental philosophy background, and appreciates no personal insight on papers. Cite other people with minimal input and you'll do a lot better than if you had a brilliant idea on your own. It helps to learn this early.

She's really into what she's teaching, and she managed to provide an approachable introduction to some notoriously difficult writers. She took a pretty heavy-handed role in class discussions, but that might have just been due to the subject-matter and our class's understandably tentative disposition

If you like feminist mumbo-jumbo, you might like Lorraine. Not bad, but certainly not great.
