Comment:
Tom just isn't a good teacher. I came into this course motivated and left discouraged. Don't waste your time being a project manager for the group project, you'll do all the work and hardly gain the benefit. His tests are a joke and 'learning' assignments are anything but. You'll find yourself putting too much effort for the grade you receive.

The best thing I can say about Tom's teaching ability is "Tom is a nice guy". Take that as you will. He's good for career advice, see him outside of class for that. There's little value added, however, from a professor reading from the slides (which are walls of text) and bumbling around because he hardly knows how to troubleshoot the new SAP sys.

Prepare not to learn in this class. He lacks the ability to convey the materials. I am glad I passed and do not have to take this class ever again.

Textbook is a free pdf for bsis105. Read it! Theres info there that will be on the tests that were only briefly mentioned in class. Tests are MC but tough. Funny guy with entertaining lectures and stories but you have to learn some stuff on ur own from the book to prepare you for the tests. Really great dude to get to know outside of class.

The class itself has very little number of assignments, but the assignments themselves takes many many hours to do, hours of busy work really. There is a midterm and final exam that most fail, our top grade was a C- and second highest was a D+. Tom is a terrible instructor and is just focused on selling you the textbook.

Overall, for an introduction class to MIS, the tests are pretty tough. I would recommend getting good grades on assignments and quizzes. Certain assignments are time consuming so I would recommend doing assignments before the last day to do them. And make sure to teach yourself some stuff because his lectures can be a bit dull. He's a funny guy btw

Tom is a great guy and knows a TON about SAP and MIS. However, he is not a great professor. His lectures tend to ramble on, and with the material being so dry it is pretty hard to stay engaged. The assignments are easy for the most part, but are pretty time consuming. The tests are VERY hard, the average is usually 50%, he curves them though.

Tests are really hard so study everything and do not save anything for the last minute. However, assignments are really helpful when it comes to understanding the material. Basically, do well on assignments because they save you after the exams

He was a nice guy and has pretty funny stories he uses to supplement the lectures. Uses Learnsmart for homework and quizzes and his Powerpoint lectures are put on BB so most of the time there was hardly anybody there except on test days. Has an easy SAP solo project towards the end of the semester

I liked Tom a lot. The OSCM 306 class is a weird class no matter who teaches it. The learnsmart, homework and quizzes are all online giving little incentive for students to show up besides on test day. Our class had probably 130 students enrolled and 25 would show up regularly. If you have the opportunity to go on the WalMart DC tour, go for it.

Prof. Wilder has a good understanding of SAP however he doesn't do a great job conveying that info to his students. If you do not do the SAP exercises you will have an extremely hard time passing the class. Study your ass off for the two tests he gives. Yes... only two tests throughout the entire semester. Your grade heavily depends on them.

Don't bother going to class. All PowerPoint are in BBLearn which he covers in class. He spent 10 min covering material & remaining time talking about non-related topics. I skipped every lecture after spring break & got an A. Get help from Neelam for SAP exercises-don't miss points on this. For test focus on knowing definition. No extra credit

This class is just a mess. You never know what to do, but all Wilder will tell you is "figure it out" because you're obviously an SAP expert. The SAP project is terrible and even worse if you're a project manager. Our midterm study guide was 135 pages of an SAP manual and the test itself got curved by 50 points (out of 100 total). Awful class.

Wilder is a much different person in this class than he is in others and not in a good way. It feels like he hates this class as much as we do, but rather than sympathize with us, he just doesn't care. Midterm and Final are the quiz questions copypasted so study those, and pray that you have a good group. Stressful class, lots of work, not fun

And the award for worst professor goes to... TOM WILDER **loud applause**. He acts like he is better than his students and often looks down on them. He also makes lots of offensive comments. Terrible person, even worse professor. Avoid at all cost.

Tom wilder is one of the worst professors at Chico State. He is less than helpful and talks down on students. The project for the class is to build a website, he doesn't allow you to program it yourself and enforces templeted websites. Which results in a terrible looking website which he grades you down on. Hate the class hate the professor.

Tom is an amusing professor who makes attending class easy. However... Tom never really taught anything. No homework, no projects, no quizzes. Just two tests strictly out of the book. He's a wiz at SAP but incapable of teaching others how to use it without his "cookie-cutter" exercises. Easy class, but didn't learn much.

Guy is not a very good teacher. Literally you can teach yourself this class with the book. We always left immediately after the quizzes. Read and do the quizzes and you will be fine. Stickler as hell on all assignments and tosses points away from you like theyre free. towards the end of the semester go to class, because he does in class stuf.
