He's very helpful and gives great feedback. All you have to do for an A is to show up, participate in discussions and ask for his guidance on papers. He appreciates honesty, politeness and willingness for improvement. Before being a professor he's a great human being and that's the most important thing about him. Easy A!

The class was really fun considering it's const law. He is always making jokes in class and really knows his stuff. It was pretty straightforward; we had one 3 to 4 pg paper for a midterm, another one, then a take home final. He doesn't like students that don't show up or participate, so if you're one those, he will tell you to drop the first day.

Volkomer likes to ramble, and he tends to drone a bit. HE has no patience for people who aren't "paying attention" or at least sitting quietly while he speaks. You should at least skim the cases before class. I've taken a couple classes with him. He can be boring.

Professor Volkomer is a wonderful teacher. His understanding and explanation of Constitutional Law is crystal clear. He made me interested in the subject. I had to write a paper and a "legal brief". He is quite strict though so it is best to submit work on time!

Great class to take if you are interested in law. One of the most knowledgeable professors I've had in Hunter. Not much work, just read the cases and you're golden. I got an A on the midterm and in the class simply by following along.

Comment:

The single greatest law professor of his generation, Volkomer thrives at the head of the class room. His experience in the field proves invaluable and the occasions on which he would go off topic were just as enlightening. Jokes are hilarious- he may have been a writer for Seinfeld. No hw but prep 15 min before each class and you'll ace the exams.

Without a doubt, one of the most intelligent and well spoken professors I've ever encountered at Hunter. Gave us the in's and out's of every case covered. Pretty entertaining during class as well. Just has a habit of bs'ing and getting off topic, but other than that, I'd take him again in a heartbeat.

this professor has got to be the greatest professor at Hunter!! He knows everything about law and really wants to help you out! Just talk to him and he can help you with everything you need. he LOVES the simpsons and is a fair grader. take his class if you want to go to law school

PROS: Extremely knowledgeable. He isn't yet another left-wing, liberal Hunter professor. Fair grader. Tells some interesting stories related to the material. CONS: Prone to rambling off topic and sometimes bullsh**s when he doesn't really know the answer. Also tends to favor the same few students while pointedly ignoring the rest of the class.

I think he has stopped caring. We barely went over any of the assigned cases, and instead listening to his anti-liberal musings 3 hours a week. I want to be a lawyer, and I love the subject, but it seems this professor is at the stage where making sure the students learn something is not his top priority.

If you're interested in being a lawyer, this is the class to take - and Volkomer is the professor to take it with. It's an easy A so long as you read the cases. He's a super nice guy, and has an excellent sense of humor. Lectures can be a bit dull, but hey, it's constitutional law... it's not like chem where you can blow stuff up.

Not a terribly difficult class!! You can learn alot from the cases. Even if you bomb his midterm, which I did you can end up with an A if you do really well on the final and well on the brief!! Nice Professor!!!

Volkomer is willing to help you if you speak with him after class. He's very kind and knows a lot but his lectures are hard to follow and he does go off on a lot of tangents. He seems to want a specific answer for his essay... it doesn't matter how well you make your case if you don't give the answer he's looking for-- odd approach for a law class.

Volkomer knows A LOT for sure. As a lawyer, I'm sure he's brilliant but as a teacher, he falls quite short. He's very unclear, mumbles, goes off on random tangents and then doesn't understand why students don't do well on his tests. He doesn't define legal terms and then expects you to have an intimate understanding of them. Very difficult prof.
