Dr. Powell is so great. I'm not a music major and he was super patient with me. He's really funny and kind, but also expects you to come to class prepared and ready to work. Occasionally brings food to class :) He did change some due dates and didn't communicate that well, but I think he was just getting used to Canvas. Take Dr. P, he's so nice!

VERY patient teacher. obviously has a passion for teaching and for music. attendance is mandatory, but each class is very joyous. would definitely recommend his class for Gospel Choir. Didn't use any music, so learned everything by ear.

What do I even say? Auburn is blessed to have Dr. Powell. This man's passion for music is evident from the first time you meet him. He is extremely talented as a pianist, singer, and especially conductor. Auburn having the duo of himself and Rosephanye (his wife, aka Mrs. Doc) is the best thing the choir could have asked for. Everyone loves Dr.P!

not his best class. he's awesome in choir, but in conducting he's careless about things. I have no idea what my grade in his class is because he has only given us our grades for the very first video, and we've done like six or seven. Tolerable, but needs to improve.

Incredible teacher. He has a true passion for music and it pours out of him. Very motivating and truly wants students to develop their passion for music as well as their abilities. He will do anything he can to make you a better singer. Great professor, great guy. Take his class.

This was my third semester in Gospel Choir, which should speak for itself ;). I love Dr. Powell. He is not only an excellent instructor and truly passionate about music, but he truly lives by the word of God and loves his students. He excepts 110% participation and attendance, but its not hard to give it to him because he makes you WANT to!!!

I think Mr. Doc has great potential. He is one of the nicest guys in the world. Maybe he was a bit afraid of hurting student feelings at first, but he is getting over that. Some of the whiney music students need a good kick in the rear and he is starting to get there. He is becoming very good.
