Comment:
If you want an upper level programming class that's relatively easy, go for it. This is by no means a blowoff class, but it's far from difficult. Also, Yu's hilarious. If you actually want to learn, go with someone else. I didn't learn anything in his class. His lectures and lecture notes are not easily retained. Not sure why. Disorderly? Idk.

Comment:
Yu was a fantastic teacher. He is absolutely hilarious, constantly making jokes. The material can be boring at times, but his humor makes it easier to pay attention. I recommend going to class because occasionally he will have in-class activities. Free points essentially. The exams were difficult (especially the matching portion). Great professor!

Comment:
I had Dr. Yu for CS 456 this semester. He was not too hard, but if you don't like proofs and complexity analysis, don't take this class. There is quite a bit of that stuff and if you aren't good at it, this class will be tougher for you. The programs were easier than the 340 programs though which was a benefit since they were worth 35%.

I had Dr. yu for CS240 after Dr. Livingston retired. He was very helpful and explained things extremely well. I do whis his assignments had been a bit more challenging though.

He should replace Dr. Waxman as department chair. No doubt the best CS teacher at SIUE.

Dr. Yu's lectures are great! Soooo many of the CS classes I've taken have had teachers who are boring lecturers; but Dr. Yu is hilarious! The assignments he gives are a little too easy, but his tests are challenging.

Good teacher. Lectures are actually entertaining. Good ideas for programming projects. Sometimes speaks a little too fast.
