Comment:

Friedman is the hardest speech grader I've ever encountered. I got amazing grades on mine, but I've seen him cut people down for small details. It's his way or the highway, just play the game. Tough on attendence. Insane final grade tactic, it lets him give you the grade he wants. his lectures are kinda funny, you learn a lot if you do as he says.

Worst professor I ever had. He ruined my college experience. I never want to attend swic again after this semester. Got dropped because my phone went off in class while I was giving a speech and he said i was being disruptive? I was in the hospital had proof he didn't want to hear it. He didn't like me and my grade sure did reflect that.

Great teacher! He was tough about attendance and no cell phones. This wasn't a big deal to me at all. His teaching technique was really effective and he kept class interesting!!

Took his class in the fall hating giving speeches, but he made me a better speech giver. This was the class I used to dread going to and by the end of the semester it was my favorite! Great teacher, just remember to show up to class!

This guy was the worst instructor/professor I've had thus far in my college career. I'm a good speaker and was having trouble because he didn't like me. I dropped his class and took it the next semester and got an A without any problems. If you're one of the 4 people per class that he loves then you'll be fine, if not, switch classes. not kidding

Where to start with this guy. He grades really hard on speeches, thinks he is the boss, doesn't give a study guide for the final when it's 55 fill in the blanks also with no word bank, class smells like sweat because of him. The only way to pass this class is to do EXCELLENT on ALL speeches. No point in studying for final, way too hard.

Thinks he's GOD. Definitely likes to hear himself speak. Very critical. Book a waste of time. Into his theater more than classroom. Openly critical not just on academics. Seems to play favorites. Impossible to get "A". BAD!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

He refuses to work with students, and refuses to accept any arguments. He will turn complaints into personal vendettas. If you take his class, keep your grades and talk to his supervisor. He will give you the grade HE thinks you deserve, regardless of how well prepared your speech was. He acts high and mighty towards all of his students. Avoid him.

no eating or texting in class. if you have you phone out you will get an absence. show up on time or not at all because if you're late you will get an absence. dont sit in the front row or you will be drenched in sweat. he grades hard and doesn't help you to improve your grade. i wouldn't suggest him to anyone i care about

HORRIBLE! He was extremely critical about your speeches. He would not explain his handwriting so I could improve my speeches. There was no way of getting an A+, only A-. His final.. FORGET IT! it's all fill in the black from book or class. I got a B, but he has no grading scale at all. he gives you a grade he "thinks" you deserve. RETARDED!

GO FRIEDMAN! Took him in the fall and he was great. very straight forward explained everything well. If you do what HE WANTS you get an A or B--depending on nerves and stuff like that. Book really isn't required but youll want to look at it before the final. I just skimmed through it the last week and got an 80-the highest grade, so study a little.

This guy is a nutcase. I had him for spch class about 2 years ago. I missed his class because i was in the hospital with pnemonia, and he wouldn't accept the doctor's note. That's why i had a b in his class. he never went over anything on the final, he just expected you to know the whole book. everytime i see this teacher, i cringe. worst class eve

Dr. Friedman is an excellent teacher, IMHO, and WILL improve your public speaking, if you actually get involved with the class. His criticism, while hard to take at times, is generally dead on, and intended to improve what your supposed to be learning. It's easy to get more than an A- on a speech in his class, if you listen to what he tells you.

Teacher was extremely critical of students in his INTRO TO PUBLIC SPEAKING. I was one of 5 males in a class of 25 and was ridiculed daily. This website was mentioned in his class, his response was that most of the people here had probably failed his class, and this was their forum. I received an A in the class. EXTREMELY critical of students.
