I love Alayna, easily one of the best professors I've ever had. She is super easy and awesome on trips. She can kinda go off sometimes on unrelated topics but that's all I could ever complain about. Super sweet lady overall. Class sucks, but the trips are a party.

Alayna is an awesome professor! She really understands the finance world and does a great job of explaining terms. She graded quickly and gives good feedback. I learned quite a bit and enjoyed coming to class each day. I would definitely take another class from her.

Comment:

Alayna is hilarious, spunky, and overall very cheerful. For better or worse, she does everything with 100%, and it sometimes leads to a lot of scattered thoughts and side stories in class (and on trips). She definitely cares about her students. She does hav a hard time differentiating between relevant stories and tangents she wants to share lol

Comment:

Very good teacher. Teaches a few things really well. Doesn't try to fit everything in then have a huge curve on the exam. She also gives out candy sometimes for participation. She knows the subject really well and makes learning it SO EASY! If you pay attention in class that is all you need to get an A. Learn the way she teaches and you'll do well.

Great professor. Explains things in ways that are understandable, not finance jargon like most. Clear with what she expects of you and really cares about students. One of the few profs that is open to students feedback and requests. Super nice lady and can honestly say she doesn't try to trick you on exams like 99% of finance profs do. reccommend

Grade: 3 pop quizzes, a midterm & final. Don't take the class if you're going to miss lectures because you'll miss a pop quiz. I felt well prepared for quizzes & the midterm from her lectures. She's helpful if you meet with her individually. Her real-world experience was insightful. I would sign up for her class again. The final is not easy. Study!

Alayna was awesome!! Loved her class! A bit hard due to lots of group projects. But she helps you out a ton and is one of the funnest teachers i've had. Loved this class and her teaching!

Comment:

Finance 3040 is a difficult class in general for most students. All of the professors for this course are good, but know the material is difficult. For Alayna's class, you need to go to class everyday and read the chapter for the lecture. She does not assign homework, but do her suggested practice problems if you want to do well.

Comment:

I happened to miss one of the pop quizzes, which killed my grade. Be careful. Once I had a question about a practice problem, and texted her about it at 8:30pm. An hour later, she had reworked the problem from the book and sent me an explanation. That's the kind of person she is. Extremely helpful and really wants you to succeed.

Alayna teaches a lot about being a Farming mom and not so much about Finance 3040. She really loves her family and telling jokes; she is a fantastic person to know, but not the best at teaching. I'll pass the class but I would not take another class from her.

In all fairness, this is a tough class. Total grade consists of 4 pop quizzes, mid-term, and final. The median grade on each of the quizzes was 50%, and 79% on the mid-term. Went over easy examples during class but HW and test problems were tough. Held a review the day before the final so its pretty much worthless. In hindsight, I would avoid

Alayna is the worst professor I've had at the U. She is at least 10 min late to class every class, she talks mostly about her life and not the material. And she is very unclear and does not prepare you well for midterm or final. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FROM HER. I came out of this class being more confused about finance than before taking it.

Alayna was always really nice. I liked her on a personal level but when i took the final i was frustrated with her. We had a homework, a mid-term and a final. Myself, and others, had hoped for more quizzes to solidify information. I attended every class period and every final review and i felt a little mislead as to what to expect from the final.

Extremely disappointed. Unorganized, scattered, showed up late every class, spent so much time talking about personal life she rushed through material and was a few weeks behind all semester. Had to teach myself from the worst textbook I have had to date. If you want to learn anything about finance, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

I was highly disappointed with Williamson. I read OK reviews here before I took this class - I did not have a positive experience. Those reviews are years old and I would recommend a different professor. Talks all about personal life and does not give students enough time on midterm (30% of grade). Grazes over homework topics.

Literally one of the worst professors at the University of Utah. Does not teach much. She rushes through everything to "catch up" to the syllabus. Talks about her personal life more than finance. Look elsewhere. Such an embarrassment to the University of Utah.
