Comment:
Absolutely awful. He is the most condescending professor I've ever had. He likes to put his students down, and unless you are really into archaeology, you don't matter to him. He doesn't teach, he babbles without making much sense (if at all) and you won't learn anything. He also makes a lot of inappropriate and offensive jokes. AVOID if possible!

He has very interesting ideas. He is a clever Prof. One needs to have a geomorphology background to understand better. Its a pleasure to be with Mr. Ammerman.

If you are a male athlete/HOCKEY PLAYER take his class. If you don't fall under that category then don't take this class with him. He writes his notes on the board in script (aka a foreign language) and his thoughts aren't clearly formulated.

Ammerman is a wonderful and charming professor. His passion for what he teaches is contagious and makes class interesting and fun. He usually throws in little jokes and stories about his world adventures to break up long lectures, which is nice. Overall, a great man and professor, take a class with him.

Ammerman is a very nice and friendly man, but a poor professor. The class was unbearably boring on most days. When someone asked a question he either answered with something off topic or said something to make the student feel dumb or unimportant. Also, he was extremely unclear when describing paper topics.

Really easy for Western Traditions!! I went maybe to half of the classes and he didn't seem to care. Easy A. Early in the morning though.

Even though the class could get very boring sometimes, he presented the material in a very straight-forward fashion. Midterms were VERY easy as long as you took notes. Not a hard grader either. Highly reccommend for Western Traditions.

Al is a brillant man and a leading archaeologist in Italy and Greece. He's not always on campus, but I had the chance to take Western Traditions with him one semester he was here and he gave my study group (lead Rebecca Ammerman) a tour of Rome. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him, don't pass it up!
