Nothing is ever good enough. I even used his own advice for papers yet it wasn't "good enough". I tried so many diff approaches to his papers n still get C's. He is a nice guy, but he is unreasonably tough when it comes to papers, not to mention that's all you ever do is write papers. I will never take another course w him bc he is impossible.

Comment:

Very good lecturer. Good with in class activities. Tough is not the right word for his grading, its more like bad. He nitpicks on essays and tells you to do one thing while correcting your draft, and then takes off points for the exact correction he told you to do. His grading criteria for essays is never really set and changes with no warning

I had Austin for Modern US Hisotry Pop Culture and my FYE class freshman year. I love him! He is a great professor and makes class interesting. He grades a little tough on his papers, but if you ask him to look over your work he will give feedback. I'd definitely take him again for another class!

Comment:

Great professor, grades papers harshly at first. DEFINITELY send him a first draft. He will rip it apart but that's what you want. After he reads your draft he'll meet with you and basically tell you what to write. Highly recommend for a writing intensive.

Very easygoing and passionate about his field of study. He expects students to give him their all and he grades a little harshly, but not too strictly or too much. It is also easy to get him off track.

Dr. Austin teaches and AMAZING class! The way the lecture is structured is Marvelous, giving us all a chance to develop our own ideas and think outside of the box. YES, this can be difficult, but it was well worth it for the amount of material I learned this semester.

Awesome professor! If you can take this man, do it! He is my all time favorite professor and I wouldn't mind being able to take him every semester. He is absolutly amazing! Clearly here for the students, and not for himself!!
