Comment:

Dr. Ashby, Allen as he let us call him, was one of the best teachers I ever had. I took his class in 1982 or 83 (Wow) To this day I still remember him and some of the special lectures he gave outside of just teaching the class. I still take time at the beginning and end of my day for quite thought and meditation. Vespers. Thank you Allen.

I had this teacher years ago and to this day, he remains my favorite. He inspired me to think for myself by letting go, to see the world more clearly by looking within, and to be courageous enough to be who I was meant to be.

Egotistical, manipulative, much more closed monded then he likes o think he is. Dr. Allen Ashby is represenitive of everything that is wrong with Teaching. He offers no life lessons, He has a "Holier than Thou" attitude, an god forbid you actually can form your own thoughts, opinions, and view points, and is highly unaware of the worls around him.

This is the best professor I've ever had. He'll definitely change your life. I still remember some of the things we discussed in class and he has a way of making you think and appreciate literature like you've never had before. Truly a life-changing class.I took most of his literature classes and those classes are the best ones in my college career

Comment:

Not only is Ashby an awesome guy in general, but he's one of few professors that makes you forget you're in a classroom setting. He doesn't lecture but rather "talks" to you; inviting the subject at hand to settle in a comforting way making his classes a joy to be in. He inspires originality and uniqueness. One of the best teachers I've ever had.

An amazing class. The first half of the semester was tough. You must be able to manage your time and meet deadlines. He really teaches his students how to write good papers. He talks fast but touches on life,death,love and family. He allows you to self reflect. I learned much more than english. Thanks Dr. Ashby!

The best two classes that I've taken at UCC. You learn not only how to write but also life lessons that will stay with you for a long time. I would recommend him for anyone who has to take Eng. As long as you keep up with the work you'll do fine.

Amazing Class. So interesting and fun everyday. Really tests your knowledge and readings. Challenges you, makes you want to learn more. A lot of reading but if you enjoy Shakespeare, it's not a problem. Easy papers.

He's a very interesting person and makes you think, not only about english but takes his lessons and applies them to life. He kept my interest and I loved to go to his class. a good teacher but doesnt know the plays as well as he thinks he does. Made mistakes that my comp 1 teacher, an adjunct, corrected for me about the play Lear and showed me the proof. He is good if you need to learn to write but not if you already know how to. But easy if you do.
