I cannot stand her. She's rude and arrogant and puts very little effort into her class. Going to class is pointless, she reads straight from the vague powerpoints she posts online and shows movies. Easy A though, if you feel like putting up with her holier than thou attitude.

Comment:

Online class syllabus was confusing until converted to a neat table. Quizzes usually contain questions from previous, current, the next weeks readings. You get TWO attempts on weekly quizzes and NO discussions!!! This class is EASY as long as you do the READING. Extra Credit was offered. Map quiz linking countries with people/facts- not hard.

I've had harder classes, but never one more frustrating. The class set-up is a mess, mistakes on the quizzes (phrases missing from questions) and there is masses of reading for tests, but the questions are so obscure and random! She seems like a nice person, but somebody needs to totally redo the structure of this online class.

Online class. Tests are very difficult and hard to find answers from the book or notes. Gives only 45 minutes for tests and gives some fill-ins and takes off for spelling. Just not enough time for tests. Have to do 2/6 assignments and grades hard for assignments.Gives one extra credit but not a lot of points for it. Would not take her again.

Took online/summer. Not a bad teacher but her tests are very difficult and very hard to find answers. She gives assignments but only have to do 2 out of 6. Grades very hard on assignments. Got an A in her class but don't ask me how. Book is not bad but not easy to find answers for tests from the book. Have to guess alot.

The professor takes attendance but only does so towards the end of class. She is strict in what she expects you to have prepared to class. The short papers and student presentations are helpful, but the movies are not. Professionalism is questionable.

Dr. Howard took over this class for summer bc dr. Zorn died, but the class became a momorium for dr. zorn more than about anthropology. When she used examples she would use ones purely from the carribean where she studies, no other examples. She also counted attendance but messed everyones up and didn't change it when asked about it from the class

Had her for Lang. and Culture. If you get the chance, take her! Not an 'EASY' A, but one is very possible. Read the text and go to class. Really helpful and her stories are interesting.

UGH. I HATED her class so much I withdrew from it halfway through the semester. She's never prepared for class, doesn't seem to know what to talk about or teach, can't answer students' questions. She constantly rambles about her own fieldwork and her notes are useless. She also makes us watch videos in almost every class, it felt like middle school

I learned a lot in Dr. Howard's class. Come to class, read the textbook, and you should get an A. She does often talk about her research in Red Bays, but it was really interesting.

If you can, find another teacher - because she's terrible. She will not answer e-mail or phone calls. What's more, she has her own agenda and is constantly trying to propagate that in class. It seems wrong that an anthro professor should be so close-minded.

She's pretty cool, there were lots of opportunities for extra credit - like participating in a Bob Marley dance party! You'll get an A if you read the chapters and use the CD the book comes with.

First off, I just had her this summer (06') n this is probably the most **** person i've ever met in my life. All she talks about is her research in red bays.She gets side tracked very easy. I found out how pointless going to her class because all you really need to do is read the chapter n you'll be fine. Rarely ever did these notes ever help me

She knows how to teach this class. I came in thinking that I would not like this class but I actually learned a lot and loved it. Just study the book and her notes and you should get an A or B. Overall great professor and great class.

Dr. Howard is a very easy-going professor. This class was actually taught by 3 professors but it was still easy. Only 3 papers which are straight from the book. Very interesting class. No tests/hw!

Yeah, she's pretty easy, but doesn't teach much. Her notes are straight out of the book, a waste of time if you read. Her group project is horribly organized and executed. She is ill-prepared, often late and absent, screws up test questions (repeats them or has them on non-covered material). Take it for an easy A, but not to learn.
