I don't know who's giving all these good ratings but this is a terrible class. Yes Jg steenken is a nice teacher but a teacher being nice doesen't mean you pass that class. THIS MAN'S CLASS IS EXTREMELY HARD FOR NO REASON THIS IS A THEO CLASS AND YET ITS HARDER THAN MY ACCOUNTING 202 CLASS. THIS MANS ESSAY QUESTION HAS 10 QUESTIONS IN ONE QUESTION.

He's personally very nice. THEO276 consists of four parts equally weighted 25%: pop quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 (5-7) page paper, and final exam. Basically, you must do well on all four parts to get an A which is not easy, but doable. All exams are HEAVY in writing. He wants specific answers to get points. Lectures are super interesting and relatable.

Dr. Steenken is an excellent professor. He is extremely passionate about the field he is teaching in and I really appreciated his honesty and genuineness! He was very active and engaging, always taking his time to explain everything that we did not understand. Lots of reading, "pop" quizzes, one midterm, one paper, and final

Steenken is a goofy dude, who laughs at his own jokes and makes weird references, but he really cares about what he's teaching. Class can be very boring and repetitive, but the concepts are crystal clear, and if you do the reading, you'll be totally fine. Reading quizzes every week, but he only counts 6. The questions are long, but pretty easy

Class can tend to be boring, but as long as you do all of the readings, you will be fine. Reading quizzes every week, 2 tests, and a paper...very good class as a theology core

easy but could get quite boring because of the content, but he tries his hardest to make it more interesting by telling hilarious stories about his Jesuit days and relates them to the content! Very sweet man, hands down an amazing professor

He tells funny stories about his Jesuit days and make them oddly relate back to the content. He's friendly and the class isn't too bad. The paper was easy, but the exams were a bit tough. Lots of writing!

Pretty decent. Sometimes can get boring, because a lot of material is redundant, but it's an easy class if you do the reading and study questions (same questions as quizzes!). One essay and he'll read it and correct it before it's due so you can edit! Exams are slightly more detail oriented than the study questions, but he gives you study guides!!!

This is my second time taking Dr. Steenken and he continues to spark my interest in the subjects he teaches. He teaches all of his classes the same, so there is no surprise here. He is very helpful and tells you exactly what to expect on quizzes and tests. I would highly recommend his Early African Christianity course!

Man he is cool as hell.. no lie. But you have to actually read the work because there is a quiz every week. Drops the 2 lowest score. A midterm, one 5 page paper and a final. Before each quiz you can ask him questions and he will give you the answer that will be on the quiz. TAKE HIM.

Dr. Steenken is awesome. Go to class because you will have a quiz every week. The quiz is based off the questions asked from the reading. Also, if anything is unclear ask him because he will give you the answer and pretty much tell you what you need to know for the quiz before the quiz. IF YOU DO YOUR WORK THIS IS AN EASY CLASS!

He is really easy and it's definitely not hard to get an A in the class. He gives you at the most 10 pages of reading and then gives random T/F quizzes on it randomly. His final is short answer and he gives out a review guide. He is not a hard grader and will pretty much give you the answer if you ask him during tests, he's really good at teaching.

If you want an A in the class you must read the text and study. There are multiple (12-16) quiz's he takes the top 8 or so. There is one midterm exam, one final exam, and a paper (talk to him about the paper - he looks at the early and really edits them!!). Study and you'll do fine - it's not hard material but it does take some time to read!
