Comment:

She was way too serious about her grading and didn't teach well. One time I was late to class and although I finished my assignment and had it in my hand she gave me a zero for that assignment and another for an in-clas assignment no one knew about. I got 2 zeros in one day because she was felt like it. Don't take her, shes not worth the migraine.

Amy Burton absolutely disliked me. I have two friends in the class who did worse than me in their speeches and I was the one failing while they were passing with A's. Sometimes I would have an assignment complete in my hands and she wouldn't accept it because it was a couple of minutes late. I have more but she's just awful, don't take her.

Professor Burton was a great speech teacher and made the class more interesting rather than just talking the entire time. She did grade a little harder towards the end of the semester but not too bad.

I took speech online. Her class contains a lot of smart book work but its not hard just time consuming. Her grading rubrics for speeches was easy to understand and she grades fair. She is a solid teacher but her class had more work than I would think for a speech class.

Not so well at understanding student needs. Very quick to drop you from a courses despite your situation. Its either do your work or she drops you. No warning no heads up nothing.

Shes teaches by the book. Shes alright but sometimes she can come as condescending when you bring up ideas for speeches. Do the work, and you shouldnt have a problem

Comment:

Lots of online assignments and reading with it. She's really specific and picky about her assignments and grading. If you miss a day & there's an assignment, you will receive a zero & no makeups are allowed. Two speeches are required to be given in front of the class. Hard grader and takes everything too seriously. Good Luck!

Probably my least favorite class this semester. Although her class is easy I really don't like her approach. She comes off very patronizing when you ask for help. I just avoided one on one discussions with her at all cost. By the way she is very strict with the miss four class and you get dropped rule. Show up to class, do the work, get and A.

I expected to be challenged while taking the Business and Professional speaking route, this almost seems like it was built for no one to succeed. You might still have to show up to class even if she's not there. Lots of feedback on speeches, but usually because you had a lot of things wrong from the start. Book has to be online, hard copy optional.

This professor has classmates critique everyone work. A classmate is always going to grade excellent and is NOT the professor. This sets students for failure. Most of them don't know if its correct. I think this makes the professor lazy and does not care. She should be reviewing everyone's work for accuracy than we would know if it its corre

Professor Burton is super helpful when preparing for speeches. She offers 5 points for outline reviews with her or with someone in the speech lab, and 5 points for practicing delivery. You have one or two learn smarts due every class. 3 total speeches, but the last speech is a group speech. Do the work and you'll get an A!

At first I did not think I would like her class. She's a hidden gem and takes some getting use to. She is kinda boring but I've learn a lot. Her grading is tough but VERY fair. I would take her again. Overall she's great.

The speeches are the worst part. She is a tough grader, but fair if you try. The classmates were extremely hostile. Professor Burton was nice, but she is tough. The classmates made experience miserable, but overall the professor made it bearable.

Pretty boring class, felt as if going to the class was pointless because you do your "homework" THEN talk about it in class. Her communication skills are not really what I expected a speech professor's to be like, it was like I was back in high school. I would recommend taking a different teacher if possible.

Amazing Professor! She is so knowledgable on good speech and professional communication. Her class is very beneficial to anyone interested in learning how to communicate effectively in business. She's a tough grader but gives a clear rubric on what is expected to receive a good grade. I'd definitely take her class again!

Ms Burton is a professor who wants to treat the class as middle school kids,strict in grades but if you do your work you don't have to worry about,it takes sides on groups in class and if you are not on her good side she will completely ignored you.I will not take her again.

she is kind of creepy, she just stares and smiles, she also seems very fake. she goes mostly off the book, yet very literal and will take points off for the smallest things. she is very strict and way too professionall, she needs to loosen up. she is friendly but overall I would not recommend this class to anyone.

She's a very sweet teacher, really helps you when it comes to speeches, SHES VERY HARSH WITH GRADING, that was the only downfall on her, but shes very helpful and understanding. all the homework is online through connect. I just feel shes too hard with grading speech's i mean common this is INTRO TO SPEECH, of course were not all speech experts

So sweet, great speech teacher! I learned a TON! definitely recommend. I never liked speech and now I feel as if I can go out there and speak in front of others.
