Comment:

Took her class 18 yrs ago at Cal. Not your standard class, unforgettable. One of the most stimulating and creative classes. She went over my paper on Blade Runner at her office and she was very charming and engaged as a real person with honest sentiment, not as a dry formal authority figure. For those who like spice in lectures and poem readings.

Terrible lecturer. Had little respect for students before tenure, and is now likely to have even less. Has the unique distinction of being both arrogant and incoherent.

Anne Cheng lacked respect and openness. She often ridiculed students in class and was not open to hearing alternate ideas. If a student chooses to agree with her ideas, they seem to get a good grade, if not, oh well.

She gave very dynamic and interesting lectures. She speaks real fast and keeps you awake. She is quite a brilliant lecturer and engages the class in a discussion in spite of the size of the class.
