Comment:

Professor Bassi is the reason i quit taking Italian classes. ITA1-3 do not prepare you for ITA4. You get to ITA4 and can barely scrape by. You don't get many opportunities to practice speaking unless it's an exam(I was always really nervous). There is much more work than previous quarters. And, she's pretty condescending.

So negative. Never positive. She doesn't congratulate you on doing well or is happy for you if you succeed. Some days in class she just rants about how much the whole class needs to improve. I love Italian though so it's worth it.

You are expected to teach yourself everything, the exams are very difficult, and her syllabus and homework assignments are unclear. However, it is very clear she wants her students to do well, and is very lenient with her due dates. Expect to put in hours and hours of studying in this class. Overall great person, not great class.

I adore this woman. I took Italian in highschool, so her class was cake for me, but she makes it so interesting! Not only do you learn the language, you learn about Italy in the now, including the good and bad aspects. I highly recommend this woman. Lei è, semplicemente, la migliore!

She is a fun and upbeat teacher but still doesn't keep students in her class. She expects you to learn just by listening to her.If you try to write what she is telling you she'll stop you. HW is never collected. Tests have nothing to do with what is in the text book.Questions were never really answered and she makes her favorite students known.

She is a wonderful teacher, full of energy and passion towards teaching the subject. She brings pictures o italy to class and uses power points to clarify misunderstanding. She has a wonderful personality and an inmmense heart. If you like italian and want to learn it TAKE HER!!

i heard mixed reviews before i took her class (e.g. she's the best vs. she's mean), but i'm so happy i did. she's a native speaker of italian, is passionate about the subject, and wants every student to succeed! what more could you ask for from a language teacher?? best advice: be prepared to participate and take the class seriously. enjoy!

I've taken four classes and studied abroad with Bassi, and I can't recommend her enough. She's sharp, funny, and passionate about teaching. Yes, you have to try hard and be prepared, and yes, she is fully willing to single out. But I've never been more excited to learn as I have in her class - she's an absolute gem amongst professors I've had.

Professoressa Bassi is pretty sweet. she teaches you italian as if at the end of the quarter you will be going to italy, which basically means she teaches you stuff you would actually use! she is really big on speaking and doesn't really care about the book. hw is easy. you use the same book/workbook for ita 1,2,3. classes are usually interesting

She is what defines Italian. If you really want to be able to speak Italian, take her class. Professeressa is hard but it is seriously worth it. Just talk in class. Even if it's choppy, just talk.

i really really liked her and i think she tought italian really well. Her teaching method requires a lot of participation in class, but if you do your hw and keep up with things, you'll do well and you'll learn italian really well. She's tough sometimes and assigns a lot of hw. I loved this class. if you love italian, you'll love her!

You have to teach yourself EVERYTHING in this course. I aced Ita 1-3, but this class was hard. Learning a language is about constant repetition and clarification, of which she did neither. I want to take a class where the teacher teaches, not expects me to know everything on my own and is surprised when do badly on her tests.

DO THE HW BEFORE COMING TO CLASS. STUDY THE BLOODY LESSICO. That's all, she's SUPER laid back about handing in temi, she REALLY wants you to learn, even hands your test back when she wants you get a higher grade. Intimidating, picks favorites, mean, and bossy. But if you truly wan to learn Italian- she's the one.

Avoid Professoressa Bassi if you're taking Italian 4. She doesn't teach much, and instead seems to focus on quizzing the students on how well they've taught themselves from the book. This was not what I was looking for when I signed up for the class, and it was enough to discourage me from continuing Italian.

she is intimidating at first...but she is a really good teacher...she is moody and it doesnt take much for her to get upset so make sure to be on top of your homework so you're not the one setting her off...attendance matters a lot for your grade so you have to go to class...i recommend her for anyone who really wants to learn italian
