Dr. Calabria is a fantastic professor. He's not easy in that he assigns quite a bit of reading, however the reading is interesting and his teaching style is discussion driven. I really enjoyed him as a professor and learned so much from the class. HIS2003

Dr.C is an old school professor. Teaches using a seminar format. You must read, come to class and you must write analytically. Class discussions were interesting. Dr.C made himself available as needed to help students succeed. If you want to learn a lot and are willing to work for your grade I highly recommend his class.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Although the book list was extensive, the readings were very interesting. Class discussion was lively and relevant. One midterm paper & a final essay test. Students that didn't do well probably didn't attend class, nor back their opinions with data/evidence. Dr.C was very helpful & gave many chances to succeed.

do not take any medieval classes with him ever. you wont be talking about anything medieval. you will spend your semester talking about Greek/Roman philosophy and theology. He will grade you based on your opinions and how they conflict with his. He has a strong bias against non-classical cultures. Thinks he is an english teacher when he grades.

I was scared going into his class after reading RMP.However He is awesome I would take him again If not going to ITALY.All you have to do is do the Reading.Who said college is supposed to be easy anyway?

I thought I would be dealing with a Tyrant. However DR C.KNOWS what he is doing and Is a Professional. It is cut and dry on what he expects of you in class if you have questions all you have to do is ask. He will take the time to help you understand. People that did not like his class were the ones to lazy and didnt participate. Easy A=SAC...JDC

Dr. Calabria is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is very helpful, but you just need to do the work. If you see him in his office, he will do whatever he can to help you get an A.

I read the negative requirements and I became a little upset. Dr. Calabria is the best professor I have ever had. Very helpful, very demanding (as he should be), extremely insightful and helpful to develop documentary analysis within the student. If you want an easy "A" go somewhere else (degree mill maybe), You get your value with Calabria.

Oh my god. Spare yourself the trouble. First, the syllabus has about 15 books on it and you will read all of them. Next, he has a horrible accent that is way hard to understand. Oh, and his handwriting is HORRID. He's in his 60s at least (he got his degree in 1967!)He should retire. Only grades are an 8 page mid term paper and a final.

I do not recommend him for anyone who is a History major who needs to take Historical Methods. You can easily feel over worked in this class, because he assigned 2-page papers and 20 or more pages of reading for every class period. He does not always tell you in class what he wants on these papers either or if they are for a grade.

As a History major I needed to take this course. To say the least I dropped this course a day before the drop deadline. 1)He expects you to read at least 10 textbooks and discuss in class within a few days 2) very unorganized/he does not follow his syllabus 3)He is hard to understand, picks favorites, and is a jerk as well as only seeing his point

Horrible and not reasonable, I signed up for European Civilzation not philosophy and theology. Waste of a semester with a teacher that was not willing to look at other aspects of the text. Hard to understand, does not relate material in easy terms, unorganized, and can sometimes be rude. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

What a HUGE waste of class. It's supposed to be a Introduction to European Civilization and it turns out to be more of a Philosophy course. Not good at all, what a waste, doesnt pick up until the last 2 weeks. Gives 2 assignments, a paper and the final. Didnt give paper back till end of semester! use caution with this guy...boring!!

I had heard good things about Calebra, and decided to try to take him last summer. I got to the first day and saw 10+ books on the syllabus and he expected you to already know something about what he started lecturing on. His accent was not easily understood so I dropped the course. He's prob good, but not over the summer!!!

Took Dr.Calabria for an independent study over the European Crusades. It was an amazing semester, learned so much. Came up with an original argument thesis and wrote a 16 page paper. The work was tough and time consuming, but i'm glad I challenged myself and did it. Earned an A. take him if you can, great guy.

Horrible teacher, his classes are extremely dull and boring. And it is true, he does pick favorites. It is also ridiculous how incredibly rude he is. He treats students as if they were stupid. He's an arrogant jerk and he does NOT care about students' learning at all, no matter what anyone says. Do yourself a favor and NEVER take a class from him!
