His lectures are based on what he talks during the class period. There are no PowerPoints or notes online. If you miss class, you're on your own to get the notes from another classmate. He does talk fast and sometimes it's hard to keep up and he doesn't repeat himself. He may or may not answer emails promptly. Great professor.

His syllabus was very detailed. I took his summer PHIL 1301 class and there were 2 quizzes every class over the reading assignments (the assignments were never too long). Every quiz was true/false and pretty easy. Study/do the reviews and you'll pass his tests. He's very accepting and does not judge you. I even considered changing my major to PHIL.

worst professor I've ever had. Doesn't answer emails, kills with too much information and talks too fast to write anything down and follow

6 week Summer course, 2 true and false quizzes a day (8 a week) on assigned readings from the day before. Usually 1 exam a week with essay. Nothing online and his lectures consist of him talking and barely writing on the board so kind of boring. Overall nice guy but most work I've ever had in a summer course especially for beginner course..

This is a great teacher who loves what he does but his daily test can be a little much. He gives a test over the reading assignment everyday and then lectures the entire class period. He use to be a preacher and it shows. If you read and pay attention you will pass. He is a super guy and his lectures are not boring. For me it was a semi-easy A.

Dr. Whitten is an amazing professor. His lectures are heavy. There will be a quiz over the readings at the next class, usually 5 minutes to take it. If you are absent or late you don't get to take the quiz. Tests are challenging but fair. Complete the study guide for the tests. He does drop a couple of the lowest test/quizzes.

Dr. Whitten is not the best, but also not the worst. He would cancel class without giving proper notice. A simple email would have been nice. His wording on tests/quizzes were quite difficult to comprehend. Like others mentioned, multiple choice questions had way too many answers. I came in thinking it would be an easy A, it was quite challenging.

This was a VERY difficult class. The lectures were long and boring, the tests were difficult because 70% of it was TRUE/FALSE and the multiple choice questions had choices from A-H . He does give out test reviews but they don't help much. Although Dr. Whitten is very kind, it was difficult to understand the concepts he teaches.

Dr. Whitten is great. Used to be a preacher and that totally comes through. Only gripe I had is he doesn't really ask a lot of questions to the class.

Awesome teacher. A lot of reading assignments that are easy grades on quizzes. I love his lectures, he's hilarious but very informative. A very caring individual. Great study guides leading to easy tests as long as you go to class and take notes. His lectures are very clear and well organized. Must attend class. You won't regret taking his class.

My favorite professor all semester. He is very clear about attendance and grading, telling you from the beginning what he expects and what the work will be. Many easy quizzes and few tests that have study guides. Just show up for class, amazing lectures and he actually teaches and tells you what is on the tests Do the reading. AMAZING

Loved his class. Missed quite often so had points deducted from final grade, but that's told upfront and in the syllabus. Easy final easy, the questions are personal questions and in the syllabus. Quizzes almost every class that are 20% of your overall grade. Easy class, show up, take notes, EASY tests; take Prof Whitten and you won't regret it!

I took his honors course and honestly it was the best. He put what page numbers to find answers to homework questions on the pages he gives out, and although he lectures most all of class its all very simple; we only needed to copy down what he wrote on the board. Hes very entertaining as well and super understanding.

So far, the best professor I've had! He's warm, humble, engaging, and articulates concepts concisely through anecdotes, a fair grader, and meets during office hours. Honors: The only essay we've got is the project (8-12 pg essay), and there are reading assignments and four exams. That's it! I'll definitely be enrolling in all his courses.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. He is an excellent lecturer, very fire and brimstone baptist preacher-esque. He is very knowledgeable and thorough when explaining his expectations. Be prepared for daily quizzes, and lots of reading but the material is interesting enough that it doesnt matter.
