My favorite Philosophy professor at LACC. I took him in the summer of 2008 (ya, late comment) Very engaging and funny. Like's to play devil's advocate when students raise arguments (though i think he does it to make students think more) Very wise. totally worth taking

I think what he teaches in the class is far away from reality. He is just playing a game to show he cares, and is a great teacher. He cares for his image. He fails others to show his superiority. Yes, he is very shrewd men in reality. How this person can teach any values? He needs to change himself, then guide others to the truth.

Do not take his class if you want an easy filler. You'll actually have to do work. Lectures are usually interesting and will make you think. There is a LOT of work done in the textbook. If you want to do well make sure you take EXCELLENT notes from the book. Make an OUTLINE! Overall, a very good professor. Also, he's British.

I took him twice. The first time, I got a D and was extremely bummed out by it. Then I took him again and got a B. I cannot stress how important attendance is! Those extra credit points can mean the difference between failing and passing. I failed the first time because I missed class once, and didn't get the EC points.

I was terrified to take philosphy but this professor is SO interesting and intelligent I went to class interested in what we were going to talk about. Gives 50 points of EC, dropps 3 exams, final, 7 quizzes. Simple, you just have to read. Take him or you are cheating your self out of an awsome professor.

McMahon is the cream of the crop at LACC. He is very funny and highly intelligent and he will have you look at yourself and the world in a different light. Tests are ALL from the book. You need to have good memory retention skills to pass and he gives 50 points extra credit for attendance. I'm far from bright and got an A. You can too.

The topic was interesting and while he asked some thought provoking questions, the quizes at the end of each chapter contained several questions with two right answers or answers subject to one's personal opinion. He encourages class contribution but then makes you feel like a fool when you give your opinion - your answer is the wrong one always.

Read the Book! That's the key to getting an A in his class. As you are reading, underline the important stuff (ex: meaning of bolded words, italicized words, quoted words, etc) and after you are done, review only the ones you underlined, and memorize them! He's a really cool professor. He makes you think on a different level. ATTENDENCE=E.C 30 PTS
