This class was a pain. DO NOT take this class if you have a busy schedule. You can only work on your projects during studio time and you will have to be in the studio more than once a week if you want to get a decent grade. In all honesty, Barbara was the worst professor I've ever had at York. Not helpful and just a cold person.

Cogent instruction and actual mentorship is lacking. While I can understand introversion is a personality trait, it shouldnt get in the way of instructing. She should be less mechanical and more objective. Saying youre passionate about something when it doesnt translate to instruction, negates usefulness and any chance at learning.

She is a very understanding person. If she knows that you have put in alot of effort into your work, then she will try to give you the mark that you deserve. She is very open to your ideas, and hints at suggestions in a very accomodating way. She has lots of wisdom for wise council.

In my opinion one of the best profs at York. Knows what she is talking about and has great experience. Expects hard work and is tough on people she doesn't think are working to their full potential- so don't expect to float by. Provides helpful feedback and encourages growth. Take any print class with her.
