Prof. Antokoletz teachings are great. Some may fail to see that or disagree, but he really sets you up for future success. His class taught me to speak properly, and over come the fear of public speaking. He's patient and helpful with those that have a challenge with the English language. This post is to identify what most don't mention about him.

He is very clear about what he wants in the class. The midterm and final are kind of hard, but if you get A's on your Speeches, you will pass. All he asks for is Volume and Clarity. Can be rude at times.

He is very demanding. You don't need a book in this class. But you need to be very loud and clear when given a speech, he grades you base on your posture , the level of your voice, how you address the audience and if you look at your paper or not. His test are tricky for ex: you have all right ans and you have to select which one is more right.

Very demanding of soft spoken people. Don't give enough or good enough examples for detail in lectures, goes by the syllabus too much. Test is hard, someone mention misleading that is accurate statement. Grading somewhat fair

He is not fair grader. He doesnt hear at all, He criticize my speech negatively and gave me B+ so I play my record to him to show actually speech wasnt wrong at all and he made it A- so my GPA got down cos he gave me B final grade. I would suggest to not take his class. no book no notes, and 50 Q each test.

I'm a soft-spoken non-native student with excellent grammar (he said it's bad); discriminated in every speech. I blacked out in 1(he gave others a 2nd chance); deserved A in other 3 speeches. He has hearing problem. Everyone could hear me perfectly, except him. He'd make excuses to lower my grade. He gave me a B in finals ruining my perfect GPA 4.

he's a good prof. but his exams are bit difficult and might not give everyone a fair grade. i attended every single class and some students who did better than others got same or lower grades.

Here's a great teacher! I learned a lot from him. I was very nervous about public speaking before his class. I still get nervous before presentations, but once I get going I find myself comfortable and even commanding. He seemed to understand just what it would take for each student to get what they needed out of the class in order to progress.

This professor is knowledgeable and interesting. I found his class very helpful for myself. Do not rely on your first impression. You can learn a lot and improve your speaking skills. Follow his instructions and advice. Tests are not easy, but if you have some logic and read the textbook & his mini lectures - you'll be fine.

I disagree with a lot of people who are saying he grades very hard on non-native speakers. I am a non native speaker and I managed to get A- on my first 2 speeches and A on my last 2. I do have to agree though that his tests are a bit misleading. And honestly if you pay attention in class you do not need the textbook. Great class, I had lost of fun

I loved this speech class, he was so cool and he works with everyone if you can't due your speech on a certain day. You only have 4 speeches and 2 test. If you stick to the rules you'll be okay . Speech class is not that bad with this professor.

I was disappointed to receive an A- in class as it was the first time I did not receive a perfect A in class.I was far more perturbed when I met another student from my class & was informed that she received an A- for her work which was of a lessor quality than mine.Equal rewards for unequal efforts. A warning to those trying to maintain 4.0 GPA's.

Warm, personable, funny, but make no mistake, a strict disciplinarian. The classic "iron fist in a velvet glove". Negative critiques of speeches are laced with positive encouragement to help the student do better next time. I enjoyed his class immensely. Be on time, listen to all he says & do all your work. Tests are tricky - my only "complaint".

I would take him again, but he's just too picky sometimes. But I guess because it's speech, i mean cmon its an easy enough course its just he needs to point out small things cause thats all he can do. His mid-term is annoying because he uses the text but his final is easy.

Worst tests ever. You could memorize the whole (useless) book and still fail. Few questions come from the book. Questions are misleading and the answers only make sense to HIM. Students do well in speeches only to fail the tests.

I totally agree with the previous comment about Mr. A. being very hard on non-native speakers. If you're not from the States, don't even bother signing up for the course. If you're a non-native guy, he will definitely find 3 or more mistakes in any speech you give. Both tests are horribly confusing and misleading. Again, don't even bother.
