I had so much fun in his fiction writing classes. You get a few prompts a semester (which are strange and difficult at times, but can be fun) and plenty of time to write, plus he's flexible. He gives you very valuable feedback and is encouraging. I wish he'd discourage the less desirable feedback from rude students, though.

Dr. Pope is a great guy! His workload is not too much, aside from regular readings. He is funny, nice, and easy going. He tends to go off on tangents, but as long as that doesn't bother you too much, there is literally nothing else to complain about! Awesome guy, I highly reccomend.

Bob is awesome! I've taken both writing and lit classes with him. He is genuinely interested in your thoughts and ideas even if they contradict his own. No answer is right or wrong as long as you can support your stance. One of the few that is really excited to teach AND learn from his students

I had Pope for a course this summer and while he did indeed tend to drift off-topic from time to time during discussion, his class was not difficult in the least. He is most definitely a great teacher, one of the best in the department...hands down.

Dr. Pope seems like a nice person, but his American Short Story class is impossible. The exams consist of 10-20 paragraphs, which are impossible to answer, let alone finish in an hour. He doesn't discuss the stories we are supposed to read, and goes off on wild tangents. Very frusterating class.

I thought he was wonderful. I had him for the 2.5 hour summer course, and yes, it could get a bit boring, but I think any 2.5 hour course on a sunny evening will be less than enjoyable. He was very passionate about what he taught, and walked into the classroom everday with a huge smile on his face which was a nice breath of fresh air.

I love him! I have him for advanced as well, and I plan on taking as many of his classes as I can. TAKE HIS CLASS!!! For his fiction classes, it should be the easiest A you ever made. Show up. Participate in workshopping. Write stories! It's a dream come true, and he's hilarious. You'll never meet another Bob like him. :oD

I love this guy! Who cares if sticks to what you read the night before. Instead he talks about other writers or stories that remind him of this and that. He just runs his classroom a lot different than the others. I took him for upper classman classes. I love the freedom he usually gives with the papers due for his classes. It makes paper writing not so bad. Nothing is every right or wrong in his class and he doesn't make people feel or look stupid.
