Birdsall is great! He is funny and loves discussion, but he won't pressure you too much if you're not a big talker. He never gives tests, only papers and occasional reading quizes. The quizes are easy and often have free points or are completely extra credit. His papers are easy as long as you use MLA correctly. I reccomend Birdsall! He's great!

Dr Birdsall was fantastic. One of my top 5 teachers ever (and this includes Z-12, my 7 years of BA, and now a semester of Master's program). He knows what he's talking about, and makes it interesting, entertaining and comprehensible. I've never had a professor read Chaucer in perfect accent before - he's amazing. Loved his comedy too!

Although DB is a great and funny person, I couldn't figure out his grading style. Even after taking papers back to him and meeting with him several times, i still coudln't figure out why my paper was only a "c". Hopefully he likes you right off the bat, or you can just expect to get the same grades over and over

Wonderful teacher and just an amazing person. A great sense of humor. The way he reads and leads the class in discussions is nothing short of awe inspiring. He does not teach lower level English, so he does expect students to arrive with some sort of background. And he does expect the student to meet him half way. He is just an adorable big bear!

I liked him a lot as a person, but I hated his class. He was very interesting, but I really didn't like the topics for the papers he assigned. I couldn't figure out how he was grading things either. I've never spent any time writing a paper and have always gotten A's. With him though I could never find out what he wanted though.
