I took intro Calc with him and he never even got around to approving a tutor for the 6 students who requested one until the last month of the semester and was totally unhelpful in and out of class. If you struggle with math, don't take it with him.

Bruce is clear and if you don't understand something then go see him and he will talk you through your homework. You have a ton of homework but if you do it it will help boost your grade I have migraines and missed some classes and he took time to help me understand what I missed

I consider myself a good student. But Bruce, oh boy, did he mess me up. Honestly, I've never taken a class with someone so incompetent. Without a doubt worst teacher I've had in the entirety of my academic career.

Comment:
This class is the most difficult class I've ever taken at Beloit, not topic wise, but teaching wise. He surely over-complicates things. I've also been told he's much better with higher level math. He should just stop teaching Calculus.

Comment:
Bruce is very organized, but he over-complicates easy concepts. His notes are very organized but they are not very helpful. Reading the long boring book is a must, if you want to learn. I learned more from the TA's than from him.

I have never had so much trouble in math before. I was a strong math student until I took this class. I heard he was much better in higher level math classes but for into classes take another professor.

Bruce is not a bad person, but cannot teach to save his life. He doesn't have a very good understanding of the material himself and truly cannot explain anything. His grading system for h.w. is hair pulling and he teaches material the day h.w. is due for it. Take Calc/Math with a different proff!

Never answers questions, terrible at explaining. Taking his class is a lesson in mind reading, not calculus. Grading system hurts his students.

Some people are smart and go to Princeton and Stanford. Just because they went to such fine institutions doesn't mean they can teach. This is the case with Bruce. He seems to expect everyone to have his ability and patience to learn everything he spits out. Avoid his classes if at all possible.
