GREAT person, awful professor :( If you want to do well in this class, find a study group and teach each other the content because whether you listen to his lectures or not, you're going to have to teach yourself at the end of the day anyways. He offers a lot of extra credit and study sessions so take advantage of that. Attendance is taken randomly

This was the WORST class I have taken in my life. I never fail my classes but this class was the most difficult, unnecessary, and outrageously terrible EVER His lectures are excessively boring with his confusing slides in COMIC SANS and too much text and Of course he gives extra credit but it wont help you if you dont do well in your tests.

Comment:
Wallis is an expert on cognitive science and the philosophy of mind and is an excellent resource and an interesting lecturer. However, this was the cause of an issue. Put simply, his work is too advanced for a semester class for undergrads. The writings are stellar but challenging. Overall, expect to pass, don't expect to become an expert yourself.

Very boring and unclear lectures although he does try his best for people to understand. Just buy the book and study and you should be good.

Wallis is a good professor. He clearly knows what he's talking about, but he has very high standards for his undergrads and the entire class is based on his own textbook. There isn't much room for any lenience. He does care about his students and offers some extra credit that slightly helps out. He's all right.

I only had him for a week and I was completely lost. He rambles on and on about I don't even know what. Drop his class if you can.

Absolutely the most bland professor I've ever had. His lectures literally sound like he is mumbling and he goes on and on and on and on without a recap and makes things more difficult than they really are. BUY THE BOOK because he is terrible at explaining reasons and gives way too many online quizzes for literally anyone to care.

Dont take his online class. He procrastinates on posting the work you need to get done for the week, giving you less time to complete it. I nearly fall asleep during his lecture videos. Hes one of those profs to make an easy GE class absolutely miserable. Dont take him.

7 exams, 15 homework assignments, and 10 random attendance checks. His practice exams look exactly like his actual exams and he gives a lot of extra credit. His lectures are boring but he's caring and understanding.

One of the most boring Class yet to be taken. He gives out a lot of homework and THERE ARE 7 TESTS That are 70% of your grade. 10% attendance and the 20% is the homework. He explains everything in class but if you miss something you will never be able to cover it up. ALSO HE IS NEVER ACCESSIBLE OUTSIDE THE CLASS. In short don't take him.

There are 7 test that are worth 70% of your grade. The first two are only worth 5% total and the 3rd is worth 9%, so the more important ones are tests 4-7 which are 14% each. Attendance is 10% and HW is 20%. He gives out tons of extra credit, do them all. Just study for the tests, go to class, go to his review sessions, do Hw, and do all extra cred

Horrible teacher, nice guy. but avoid taking him at all costs, super boring and old school guy in the most out dated classroom at CSULB, feel like he is talking in circles, does not use beach board so not clear on when assignments are due, so many assignments and tests, DO NOT take him unless you really like critical thinking, but he is not good

He's quite annoying, but can occasionally be funny. His lectures are insanely boring and you can probably learn it all on your own through the links and readings he posts online, but he does attendance spot checks that are worth points, so show up to get attendance points. Wasn't the worst class, but wasnt good either.

he gives you a study guide for all (3) exams; i got As on all of them. homework is harder than the tests - pay attention to his lecture slides and youll definitely pass the class bonus: he gives out SO much extra credit... it boosted my solid B to a solid A also, no textbook required! reading off of his slides is good enough

Wallis is so funny and passionate! This class can be an easy A, but you better do all the homework/extra credit/study really hard for the NINE tests!

1st couple classes seem horrible but don't worry. Takes time to learn his teaching style&go2 to class to get the material -dont try to learn on your own, attendance is all it takes. He's gone through a lot in his past&even so he's a very humble, caring professor w/a unique but hilarious sense of humor. Hands down 1 of my favorite instructors ever.

Wallis is a great professor and goes out of his way to help students. Although philosophy in general may be challenging, Wallis provides many resources to study from (past exams, review sessions, EC practice)and his exams are based on the homework and lectures. His lectures may seem all over the place at first, but they're easy to get used to.

Honestly the first couple days of class I was very lost. He has power points that are very complicated. No bullet points, just a lot of paragraphs. He does have extra credit online so DO IT! He also has reviews which are super helpful so GO TO THEM. He gives homework but it's not much. I honestly thought I was going to fail his class but got an A.

Pretty boring class. Definitely have to do a lot of reading and studying if you want to pass. The tests are very relaxed. If you actually study and read the textbook, you'll get a good grade. He's a funny and cool guy which is good.

Not a very good teacher. He talks for a long time, but it does not relate to his tests. I used the book to help me with the tests because the lecture notes does not correlate with the questions.
