Professor Wall is a very nice, respectful, and great teacher. A lot of reading, blog posts, 2 5-7page papers and a take home final exam-- she values participation in class! If you attend class and participate, go to office hours, and write insightful papers, you will be fine!

I felt that my skin color really brought me down in this class. She made comments about how I couldn't possibly know about poverty because of the fact that I was white. She also loves Cornell West and will talk about him with such joy to the detriment of the subject matter. I don't care though, still love AA Lit

This class was a bit difficult. Every time we had a paper, I would ask for her help and I always got a low grade on it no matter what. Her class can be a bit boring and dry. (However I was very uninterested in the material.)

Comment:

No, this class is not easy. Yes, there is a lot of reading, and you have to submit reading notes the night before class by 9pm. But the discussions are wonderful and Professor Wall has so much to share about black lit. Take this class!!! The hour and twenty minutes every class pass by so quickly. I plan on taking all of her classes.

Fun lady, interesting topics, brilliant writer and wonderful to speak to outside of class. Take Wall anytime you can. The papers are a bit tedious, the TA was difficult and almost not a part of the class at all, not helpful. Wall is great, take her. Howard and Harvard grad. She's a star in the Eng. Department and well known by all.

She's really smart and prominent in her field, so she is able to impart a lot of information during class. I felt that she was very helpful when I visited her during office hours, she told me exactly what she was looking for in the papers. If you approach her class with a willingness to read and participate, you will be fine.

Dr. Wall is not a hard grader when it comes to essays. However, she is vague about what she wants to see on those (even tho she gives out topics). I got the feeling, even as an A student in her class, that she thinks it's a burden to talk with me during office hours. 3 papers (final paper consists of short essays).

I would not recommend this class. I did not enjoy any of the books ready and Wall was not helpful at all. I went to talk to her a couple times during her office hours and she was not willing to help me at all. The class consists of two papers and a final paper. Keep up with the reading. Class was boring, all the books were the same.

I did not like this class - just didn't like the authors studied, didn't like the books - got a C but only b/c I faked interest...if you don't like the books, pretend to and you'll do fine. She was really nice, and helpful - after I changed my "opinion" on the subject matter

Professor Wall is truly a remarkable. She has an incredible amount of knowledge and passion for her subject. This makes her classes very enjoyable IF you read and utterly boring if you don't. Pay attention, participate and write insightful papers and you will do very well. With the papers...take a chance by making the 'unpopular' argument...

She wants alot of participation. The more the better she will like you. When you read and think about what you read she enjoys your comments. Write alot for the papers and you will get an easy B on them. Write extremely well and think about what you have written and you will get an A.

i didnt like her. thought she was boring and quite annoying. long readings, and lots of them. most of the time she doesnt go through them. she didnt really help on the papers that much either. wouldn't recommend

LOVE HER! Very interesting and nice. Papers aren't that bad to write and she grades really fairly! I highly recommend this class!!!!! She cancels the final if the class participates! Great woman and class!
