I loved this class! He writes his own book with all the information we will need without anything extra. It's very easy to understand and he is very easy to talk to. I'd never taken a philosophy class but I really liked it and ended up getting an A. If you're going to take this class, take it with him. He has a good sense of humor too!

The textbook was written by the professor. Great book, easy to read and understand. Prof has fantastic communication. Feedback is detailed and provided in a timely manner. Solid class, but make sure you really apply yourself to the papers, because he's got high standards.

My favorite professor I have had at Cuesta so far!!! Philosophy is extremely difficult to understand for most people, but this guy gets the point across so easy! 10/10 recommend.

Really impressed that Prof Gilbert wrote the book himself. There is a fair amount of reading, but not any more than any other 3 unit class. A few tests, weekly quizzes and weekly discussions/assignments. Read the majority of assigned reading, do your work giving some actual effort and you will do well! Offers extra cred. Taking 206 with him as well

Dr. Gilbert is seriously the best professor I have ever had. Even after attending Cal Poly, I wish I could have had him for all my classes. Logic and philosophy in general are hard concepts to grasp but Dr. G lays it out nicely! Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this guy and his class. Take it & it will change your life for the better!

This class was very fun and funny. He really shows care for students that care. If you don't care you probably shouldn't even try to take this class cause you'll get dropped. He is very clear on assignments, he makes sure he is understood before he moves on. I would highly recommend him.

Took this class for credit . This was probably one the worst classes I have token at Cuesta. The amount of reading is ridiculous. His test are tough and doesn't give you enough time to do exams or quizzes 1'min per question. For Questions that are not even in the reading. Please avoid this class !!!

I have never been inspired more by an instructor. If you want the best logic instructor he is the one. I have applied for two more of his classes next semester.

Gilbert's the man. He really cares about Logic, and he's really good at teaching it. In addition to having great lectures, he wrote the excellent textbook. I'd absolutely take him again. The difficulty of this class depends on the student... I'm pretty mathematically-minded, so the class was pretty easy for me. For others, it was really hard.

He truly loves his job and it shows He is very passionate about the subject and he even wrote the textbook for it. He is super super nice and helpful. This class wasn't easy and I think your brain has to work a certain way to get it. I have a theory that if you are good at Geometry you will get this class, if your better at algebra you will hate it

This class meets requirements for an elective and also a critical thinking class. Mr. Gilbert is pretty dope. He seems pretty kooky at first and that the class seems really hard, but it's a good class to take. It is an extremely challenging class and you will definitely need to study, but if you need extra help he will help you. Not much HW or test

I love this guy. He's so great at what he does. I wish I could come back to Cuesta just to take all his classes all over again. I thought logic was very fun. It was hard and sometimes frustrating but like math, once you get it, you got it. It was almost like a new language. Dr. Gilbert was very clear and helpful. He also seems cool outside class.

There is a lot of reading, and a lot of testsquizzes. You have a quiz or test once a week and 3 papers through out the semester. All your work has to be very detailed or you won't get full credit. Hard grader, and if you're not interested it gets hard.

Dr Gilbert is a great teacher. He really knows the material and explains it clearly. He told our class that Logic may be the hardest class at Cuesta and many students drop or get bad grades. I found this to be untrue and got an A. The hardest part was Natural Deduction and it wasn't really that bad. Show up to class, take good notes, and study!

Prof. Gilbert does an amazing job at making an extremely complicated subject understandable. The answer keys for the homework are available online so you can check your work as you go along. It is very important to study and practice the questions and Prof. Gilbert is very good at clarifying anything you don't understand.

Amazing teacher! He is very clear, but if you need any more instructions he is happy to help. The material is not too hard. I would say there was only one or two sections I would call hard or difficult. His tests are nor tricky but you have to understand the material to do well. The attendance is not mandatory but is beneficial for the student.

Gilbert is one of the best teachers I've had! Logic is a pretty complicated subject, but he is always willing to go back and answer questions until you understand. He wrote the textbook and it is very easy to understand, the homework is helpful, and he totally prepares you for the tests. Highly recommend!

Gilbert is an awesome teacher. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about philosophy and does a very good job covering western philosophy. He explains everything very clearly and covers everything you will need to know. Quiz questions are taken from the study guide. The only homework is reading and 2 papers. A great class overall and my favorite.
