Prof. Hales is super laid back almost to the point that it seems that she doesn't want to do any unnecessary work. Knowledgeable about subject matter. Not so great at presenting it.

The best professor I've encountered in my last year of study. She doesn't need to assign a lot of work to keep you engaged and interested in the topic, because she does that in the classroom. A really gifted poetry teacher, I hope some day to be half the professor she is.

She's opened a new world of poetry writing and appreciation. She is extremely knowledgeable, but doesn't flaunt it. Everything I needed to know about poetry I learned from her. She gets my highest rating. I wish the world of poetry was like her. Unquestionably, the finest academia has to offer.

Hales is very nice, but I didn't like the class. She tells you what she thinks you should change in your poems, instead of suggesting. Extremely laid back, almost irritatingly. The class isn't a bad one, but not what I was looking for, I wanted a more driven workshop, but it could have been worse. So take her if you want a relaxed workshop.
