This woman changed my life. I took the class because I needed to and I came out of it with so much more than I thought I would. She gave me the skills that I wish I had years ago when dealing with people in crisis. She is truly caring and sensitive and wonderful. If you can, take a class with her before she retires. You won't regret it.

Professor Coffey is a diamond in the rough. She made the learning experience bright and encouraging. Ther were days I did not want to go to class but, once I got there the professor made it worth my time. I really needed her and her warm personality. Thank you so much professor for helping me shine in my personal and professional life.

Comment:

I took SPC 141 with Karen and she was a very good teacher. She made everything understandable. I made a mistake in taking this class as a writing intensive, after a while it became too much work. And she isnt considerate with your grade if you cant show up due to personal problems. If you miss about eight classes the entire semester you fail

Comment:

Great professor, very nice. The class itself is great, you will learn material that can be used in real life. She makes things very, very clear. If you struggle with introversion, hate small talk or just run out of things to say in social situations this class will be beneficial to you. I recommend this class over other humanities class electives.

Comment:

Karen is a tough grader and class is mandatory (no "excused absences"). You will get to know your classmates fairly well. She is a decent teacher but if you prefer someone who is not excessivley happy looking then I'd suggest a different class. Portfolios are submitted every quarter which consist of a few reflections, an essay, and activity.

Professor Coffey is the best! Her class is super easy because it's all about YOU. I didn't just receive a grade, but received valuable communication skills that i can actually apply to my life! She is so caring and so nice, plus no textbook is required! She put together a free workbook for her students! You can't go wrong with taking this class!

Great professor. She cares about her students and really teaches in a way to get students to look at life in a different way. Taking this class changed my outlook on life. I speak up more and have more confidence. I highly recommend taking her class, whether its required or not.

Professor Coffey is one of the best professors i have ever had. She cares a lot about her students and wants everyone to get an A. Her class was very easy. Lectures are clear and straight forward. The class environment is also very nice and friendly. I learned a lot from this class, it actually helped so much with my communication skills!

Absolutely the best professor I've had at MCC. Very soothing, calm and collected teacher. She makes the students want to learn. The class has a lot of group work so be prepared to be social and communicate with others. Oh she's also a very beautiful woman

This class was recommended and I was pleasantly surprised. Professor Coffey is anot amazing teacher and you can tell she wants you to be as passionate as she is for this class. It was needed without me knowing that I needed the class. Learned a lot about interpersonal communications which has lead to me being a better partner in life to others.

Karen is a great professor. She's very kind and let's the students create the rules of the classroom (with a few guidelines). Although she's a reasonable grader, ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION ARE MANDATORY, but she makes it worth it. Very few tests. Not a lot of essays. Textbook used for reflections. Overall easy class and would take again.

I LOVE PROF COFFEY! Shes amazing!she is funny, and interesting, caring, and adorable! the class is very interactive which was fun, you meet people! She provides you with material! she does not make you buy a book!! Being in class is a must! i missed a few, would have had an A+ but that's on me. I recommend her, big time!

Took this professor for both interpersonal communications and for communications in crisis. I adored her. She is very easy and if you attend class and participate you will do well. I felt that I over participated so she became annoyed with me. But the homework assignments are very easy if you read and follow the directions.

Karen Coffey's class was one of my favorites at MCC. You get to know everyone in class, and listening to her lectures made me smile. I learned a lot about the types of personal communication, and my enthusiasm was kept high by Professor Coffey's personality every day. If you have the chance to take a class with her, do it, you will love it.

Karen is an amazing person, as well as a Professor. The class was pretty easy if you did the required work. She hands out a few writting assignments in the beginning of the semester and the rest of the class is smooth sailing. She is a joy to be around and I think she is beautiful! Such a great help in the classroom and outside as well.

She is a wonderful teacher! She cares a lot about her students and wants them all to succeed. Is willing to help with class material as well as personal issues. Always has a smile on her face.
