David Beck is a great professor. The only assignments are writing papers but the majority of the class time is spent working on these. If you finish your paper early, he is willing to proof read and offer revisions. He was very easy going and understanding if you put in forth the effort and try. I plan on taking another class with him.

Prof. Beck is a really nice professor! He is always a viable by e-mail and is willing to read some stuff before you turn it in and gives feedback on how to make it better! if you do the class right the hardest thing is the 1st paper and the easiest is the last! I highly recommend him for W270! Only homework is to work on the papers which is great!

David Beck is a bad professor, doesn't give an outline. There is little to no organization in this class just canvas assignments, there was a discussion post half the class missed because he didn't mention it. Overall, didn't appreciate him but for some students that independence might serve them well. Only take this guy if you're a strong writer.

Honestly he was a fantastic professor. He gave lots of clear feedback and examples of what he wants from you. He responds quickly and gives ample time for assignments. I have never rated a teacher on here but wanted to for David Beck. He is outstanding.

I enjoyed this class, mostly because of Professor Beck (I hate writing essays). 3 portfolios all on the same topic you choose at the beginning of the semester--choose carefully. He gives us plenty of time to work in class. He didn't give me much feedback on my papers, but I often have that problem.

Probably the easiest class I've taken. He gives you A LOT of time to complete essays! You only have to write 3 essays for the entire semester plus a few journals. Gives really good feedback and cares about his students.

We had about 2 hours per week in class. Most of the heavy lifting will be done on your own. We had required readings and journals so be prepared to do a bit of summary and response. Finding good peers to edit your papers and reading his feedback on your papers are key. Just be open to taking criticism on your writing and you'll be fine!

The online course was organized into modules, but the modules do not really help with the exact criteria the professor is looking for. There is very little guidance or clear expectations set forth until after your first portfolio is graded. There are no grading rubrics posted so you have an idea of exactly what needs to be in your submissions.

David is a great professor! There's a lot of reading required for this class, with a quiz over the assigned reading, so be prepared for that, but there's also group discussions over every single thing read. He prepares you really well for the paper you'll have to write, and the paper won't be too bad, as long as you have a good idea of the readings

He had no idea how to help his students. The whole class is a group project so make sure you get good group members. You don't really need the textbook, only used mine twice.

Professor Beck is extremely nice but his teaching style, at least for W231 was very unclear. He doesn't usually teach this course so he was pretty lost. He grading is harsh and he isn't clear about what he expects from his students. He uses another professor's material to "teach" the class so when you ask questions he doesn't know how to answer.

In Prof Beck's class I learned a great deal about writing and also myself. While the assignments were long, there weren't many and one of the best parts of class was that it usually got cut short. He is also available to help with assignments, such as in my first paper he basically helped me revise the whole thing so that it was "A" material.

I have taken all of Mr. Beck's classes that I can. Mr. Beck does not assign too much homework but he does expect students to complete what he does assign. In all of his writing classes, he gives plenty of time between papers and never assigns busy work.

He's a nice guy, and considers everyone's interpretations of a story, not like some lit teachers I've had. Some of the quizzes were a little odd, though. And there aren't very many, if any, opportunities for extra credit. So make sure you REALLY know the readings!

He was an alright teacher. He taught ENGW132 this semester. I wasn't too excited to take the class, but was a requirement. Friend recommended it and it ended up working out.Just have to do good research, think of a valid argument, write, and have a few people actually revise and by then u should have a decent grade. My major was English ->takehisclass

Great guy and great professor. I really enjoyed the class because the assignments weren't very time-consuming or hard, which means more time for actually enjoying the readings. Beck also did a good of facilitating valuable class discussion and achieving breadth and depth in terms of the works we studied. I highly recommend him.

Interesting guy. 132 is all about conspiracy theories so be prepared for that. Very loosely organized, worked out in the end but drove some students crazy.

David Beck is a great guy! Before going to class, I figured I'd hate it b/c it centers on 9/11 topics. However, Beck made it interesting. Always participate in class (counts as a grade) and go to the writing center. They help a lot. I got an A on all of my papers. This class isn't hard, it just requires a lot of work.
