Comment:
Kitlan is among the best professors for IST/SRA/Cyber majors. He cares about the subject matter he is teaching and makes sure that the class is (for the most part) participating. If you disagree with him politically, good luck. He does go into politics during lectures to the point you would want to debate him. He never grades based on it, however.

As long as you have a good team, you will enjoy the class. 3 group projects, and open note tests (sometimes taken as a team). Seriously, if you need to fluff your grade, take the course.

I would not recommend this professor because the way he taught. He finished a chapter in less than 30 seconds. His test are online in class, and for our class, he allowed to take them in groups which were quite helpful, but on the test, there were very irrelevant question which can screw you over, and he would only give you 30 minutes to finish the test.

Dr. Katlin is definitely one of the better professors at Penn State Harrisburg. I felt that I was given a good amount of time to complete his work and class never felt overwhelming. The group project also gave me new friends and people to interact with which was a excellent experience. Highly recommended.

Best Professor at Penn State Harrisburg. All test were open book (including open textbook). He gives you tons of extra credit opportunities. He's there for you 110% if you need him. Class is very relaxed. Make sure you do ALL assignments, and ASK if you are unsure of what to do. Would definitely take him again!!

Dr. Kitlan's class is very relaxed. He's a very leanient grader as long as you put in the effort. Makes class fun and often brings snacks. Projects can be tricky, but can also be enjoyable. The only thing is he doesn't always explain the material well (skims through powerpoints); leaving you out to dry come quiz day.

Professor Kitlan is a nice guy and easy to get along with. He is very kind and even brought us food to every single class. However, I feel like he grades some of the assignments a bit harsh and doesn't give a good explanation why. His teaching style is odd to say the least (class overviews, group tests & quizzes) but this often leads to easy grades

Probably the easiest computer class imaginable. If you know what a keyboard and mouse are, you should be able to pass the class with an A. If you struggle in this class, you shouldn't be at Penn State in the first place

He cares alot about every students grade. This was stated that this is by far the hardest IST class during the 4yr degree term. He makes his class easier to understand in the mid semester by having students go to the board to show their work. You will pass if you study hard for the final and show him you really want to pass.Great teacher!

Despite the reputation of being one of the hardest IST classes, Kitlan made it somewhat bearable. He went through many example problems...good because tests are open note. The 3 exams are very difficult, but Kitlan grades fairly and provides extra credit options. Do the homework! He often brings in snacks which is nice. Hard class, nice professor.

The projects that he assigns are easy. He is understanding and very nice. This class was boring, but if you can bear it, come to class, and take notes, the quizzes should be cake. A group video project counts as the final. It takes a lot of time, but it's not that difficult. He is very lenient on due dates. Kind professor, boring class.
