Comment:
Very difficult to rate professor Stewart. His accent is rad and he's clearly a genius, but this course is not well-suited to the online format. Further, Stewart does a wonderful job of showing derivation of techniques, but does not adequately summarize them (by giving final formulae), so you're grade often depends on deciphering his cryptic slides.

His lectures are useles. 90% of his lectures are spent on proofs that you dont need to know. He doesnt give any examples and doesnt give any feedback on homework. I learned everything from youtube videos.

Dr. Stewart is a special man. He never replies to emails. I have tried to email him multiple times about homework questions or homework due dates and he deliberately ignores them. Multiple times he has posted homework questions after they are due on ICON, then makes an announcement that the homework due date is delayed. Very bad at communicating!!

This is the worst professor I have ever had. He must not get emails because I have reached out to him numerous times regarding due dates, homework, and much more, and got back nothing. He once sent an email saying the due date was pushed back on an assignment that was released after the due date without telling us what date it was pushed back to.

Excellent lectures, you can tell how much he likes to teach and the subject matter! Also extremely helpful outside of class and approachable. His knowledge about all things numerical analysis related is also impressive. Will definitely look for opportunities to take more classes with him.

I think he is one of the worst math profs I've had. He spends 90% of the class rambling over proofs that are useless when it actually comes to learning the heart of the material. Homework and exams take forever to get any feedback. When I'm learning the material from YouTube, we have a problem. Only saving grace is that he seems to grade easily.

I've taken 3 classes with Stewart so far. Soon it will be 4. Stewart is, quite frankly, the best professor in the math dept. He's a natural teacher who seems to actually enjoy what he's doing. Plus he's Australian (great accent and a pretty good sense of humor) and sometimes carries a toothbrush to class in his back pocket. He's an adorable human.

an excellent teacher. very helpful when you have questions and explains things in a very understandable way. Exams are similar to hws. So if you do hw well, it is quite easy to get good grades.

Although the material covered wasn't the most interesting, he was very good at teaching the course. My only quarrel with him is that the homeworks he assigns are extremely long, almost projects in themselves and in the semester I took it there were 7. Also, although I can't say I know a better one, the textbook was beyond awful and didn't help.
