Ed Owens was far and away the best, and most remembered, professor of my college career. His lectures were informative, brilliant, and riveting. He was also very available to his students. He is the epitome of what a post secondary educator should be.

Comment:

The first day of class, over 40 people showed up, and three weeks later, an average of 25 people started showing up. He's very unclear, extremely unhelpful, and honestly, your semester is better spent without taking his course. I cannot recommend you not take his class enough.

Comment:

He grades on a bell curve. So, it is easy to make a C, almost anyone can. I am good, intelligent student and struggled making an A. His class consist of 3 test and a 4 pg essay. The lectures don't help with the test so most people don't go. Like, I said the class is easy but it is hard to make an A on the test. There is no homework.

Coming from a good student the lectures are interesting, but have little to do with the test.Easy class for those who just want to be passed, but for those who have to make A's, you have to study a lot! The questions on the test are impossible to study for and the single essay in the class is graded upon format rather than content.

He knows what he is talking about, and likes to tell stories of his world travels and experiences. Learned a ton, but don't miss otherwise you will have to read the book. He will give you study list, just know what's on the list. I never opened my book, just listened, no notes, and made A's on the all the test and the book report.

Here's the current breakdown. The tests are most likely not what you're used to. He'll give a study guide of things you need to know and the test will incorporate the most specific random detail related to the topics on the guide. I got A's by memorizing as much of the book as possible.

Owens is a great story teller. Every lecture was very very enjoyable for someone who has a little interest in history. His exams have a decent curve, and you should make a great grade with <moderate studying. Highly recommend taking his class.

I love this class. he makes learing the material easy. he also tells a few of his own stories to keep the class entertained. make sure you read and go to class regularly( usually he wont keep you the whole time). he does curse alot though but he is funny.

Hes a wonderful teacher! Loved his class! Very easy to follow and he cracked me up the whole class. Keeps it interesting so i didnt fall asleep like in mrs. hudgeons class. I really enjoyed this class.

I really enjoyed this class, taking notes as always, a good idea, keeps it interesting while he expects you to pay attention. He gives the terms you need to know for his tests, study well. YOu should also read the chapters before class so you kind of know what he is going to talk about.

This is one of the hardest classes I have taken. He does NOT talk about what is on the test and his study guides are useless. Just hope for a big curve on the tests to get you through. Do not take him!

Taking notes is good in his class, but the book material is often times sufficent. Have a fast hand ready to write down the study guide; he will go quickly. Take him in a mini-mester for best results because the tests are so much easier. Skim the book before class, bring the book to class, and underline/highlight the topics he addresses.

Comment:

A great history teacher. He takes a somewhat boring subject and makes it interesting by interjecting stories, anecdotes, and jokes. He gives very thorough study guides before his tests, and if you know the study material you will ace the exam.
